I knew there was a reason I liked my state rep, DeFazio.

So are they really worried about people withdrawing all their money from the bank system? (Talking about the raise in the insured amount from 100k to 250k)

I guess it is really bad that none of this has affected me at all. It says a lot about the current state of my life savings and net worth (or current lack there of). Smiley: frown

Hey, you're an Oregroanian too? :-D

(I want to get out of this armpit that some of you might know as Bend. Preferably to somewhere where it doesn't snow regularly in the winter.)

I would assume so. The other day when my husband was depositing funds into our Washington Mutual account, he was within earshot of someone emptying out their accounts.

I'm in the Portland Metro area, specifically Beaverton. You move this way, you'll be trading snow for 8 months of overcast skies and 7 months of actual rain, so take your pick. We do, however, have the advantage of out-populating the rest of the state, therefore making Oregon a blue state, despite the fact that it's really just Portland that's a blue city in what is essentially a red state.

All the cool kids live in Vancouver. We're kind of like Portland's shiny hat! (it covers the bald spot)

Don't remind me about that last part. I live in that "red state" part of the state. :-/

Kewl! I'm moving there. I always thought a year should have more than a measly 12 months in it!

My checking account is usually empty.

It's so bad, my fiance had me transfer a big chunk of money over to Paypal.

You have my deepest condolences. Here it Portland sometimes it's hard to remember just how many rednecks actually inhabit the rest of the state.

That's what I get for posting while chronically sleep deprived. I should have said "8 months of overcast skies, 7 months of which are actual rain."

Does Vancouver offer anything other than someplace for people who work in Portland to sleep at night? I seem to recall buying our car there but not much else.
