I have tasted of the WARFollow

and it was good. It was great to start a new game that felt alive and fun, just enough comfort in the movement and play style but enough little things to keep you entertained. The public quests are a great distraction with some great rewards based on contribution.

So much more polished than the AoC launch which was riddled with missing pieces and bugs. I really need to revisit the game though now that it's had a bit of time to pull it's **** together.

Get this, your roll for items is actually affected by how much you contribute. What a novel idea.

The RvR is just fun, all about fighting, no fluffy flags to carry or NPC's to worry about (atleast in the beginning).

I LOVE the Tome of Knowledge, greatest innovation to MMO's since, well, I don't know.

The classes all look and feel vastly unique, the starting areas are different, and some of the quests are hilarious, especially the greenskins. I loved picking up the drunk dwarves, sticking them in barrels and then kicking them off the dam. What was even funnier was that I had just completed a quest wondering what the heck the shaking barrels on the shore were and finding dizzy dwarves inside.

The game is a bit choppy, the graphics aren't quite up to AoC standards, but are equal to WoW. The crafting is meh, but it's all about war. No crappy truces or mutual zones (yes I am looking at you Shattrath). Just fighting.

Worth the $45 at Circuit City, if for nothing that to tide you over to Fallout 3 or WotLK. Flavor of the week fo sho.

After cancelling AoC because of its 'missing bits', I re-visited the boards over the weekend to see the reaction to the latest PvP patch....

Lots of positive comments! Wich compared to the slag-fest that they were only a couple of weeks ago is a huge turnaround.

So, I was pleasantly surprised to find that, even tho' i had cancelled, FunCom were still billing me and i could log straight back in (I think thats a good thing). Didn't play at all, but I think I'll give it another go after Mines of Moria has been released for LoTRO.

I havnt even looked at WAR. It just hasn't piqued my interest at all. Not sure why.

It delivers a depth of information unrivaled in other games.
If you kill a named NPC, and it has a backstory, you get a Tome Unlock, which grants a small amount of XP (75~90) and gain a written article describing the person, and why they're important. Also goes for Public Quests, new areas, different enemies, etc etc. You end up slowly building an encyclopedia of knowledge.
Edit: Fixed quote

I really don't understand what Mythic was thinking when they emphasized the Tome of Knowledge. I'm not even sure what it specifically contains because I know I simply won't care.

"You have killed exactly 357 wombats." Astounding.
"You have taken exactly 654703 steps." Amazing.
"You have killed Ferias Shogston, second son of Gerinias Shogston, lord of the Waaaghshire." Serendipitous.
"You have discovered the Dark Isle, it is very dark." How exciting.

Just tell me who I'm supposed to kill and what type of object I'm supposed to plant his head on.

"You have disregarded the Tome Knowledge 20043 times." Interesting.

As a side note kill quests are made infinitely more enjoyable for me by the whole "head on a pike" thing. Even the most mundane "Kill 12 Elf vanguards," quest is made more fun when I see twelve pikes lined up behind the quest npc.

I remember suggesting something similar to this in a Bestiary for FFXI. Since they were remaking all the other FF games for the handhelds and always added a Bestiary option to the menu.

I mentioned it should be a physical encyclopedia you could get and place in your Mog House. It'd be like a trophy on display.

Ya, this is ************** ********

PS2 Limitations.

Anyways, from what I've seen so far in the game, it has a lot of potential to be excellent. My only problem has been Order keeping control of a Keep in Tier 2. The game still tilts heavy towards destruction.

I've been wanting to try and get a guild together, Order side on Wastelands. If you're interested, send a tell to Kunio or Ukulele.

Well it would seem that something happenned that the 'community' has been baying for for some time now.....

the venerable My Godager has....

Link.

Pushed i would guess.

But a new director for what could be a great game has got to be a step in the right direction.

Must say "NO" to 'nother game.

Lots of folks have left LoTRO, at least temporarily, for Warhammer:(

Bought it yesterday and installed/patched last night. Will be logging in for first time tonight.

I don't see it as a replacement for EQ2/WoW. I just need something new to tide me over until they both release expansions.

What server/side everyone playing on???

I only played an hour or so last night but was highly entertained. Order side and a Dorf Healer. I did a bad thing and took the recommended server. The order was apparently highly outnumbered... Still learning about that.

PROS:

The Tomb of Knowledge rocks and is a great tool for players who are acheivement driven. It seems to keep track of everything!

Graphics are good, but not great.

Fighting and spells are neat. No need to spam buttons like EQ2. More similiar to WoW.

CONS:

Graphics are glitchy, especially when that game first starts. After 30 seocnds or so they smooth out. Not sure why.

Mobs track funny and named reswpawn almost immediately after you kill them. Not sure if this is for all of them but there was a level 3 dude I needed to kill and he would immediately respawn right on top of me.

Other then that, the only other issue is that the game is completely new to me in many different aspects. I need to play it a few days and get back to youz.

Im thinking maybe of trying it for the PvP. I had never considered PvP as a criteria for a game until, in a moment of boredom, I rolled a warg and went to slaughter some player-characters in LoTRO PvMP game. I'm hooked. I now find PvE repetitive and predictable (I've ruined everything).

Many of those I'd just started to get to know in the LoTRO pvp game though, have left for Warhammer.

As an eternal optimist, I'm still thinking Darkfall is going to actually be released, and so, thought I'd wait. But ***** waiting.

Been playing since closed beta, have the CE, and still digging it.

Playing on Bretonnia server, Order side, and have a guild going with some folks on Forumopolis. My main toon is Guinness, a Dwarf Engineer. I have a few Destruction alts on Uluthuan and Sylvania but I'm focused on my main for now.

We've got about 20 or so folks in the guild and it's been fun. If anyone is interested in joining us, Old World Irregulars, you can PM me on here.
