NYT wrote:
The Obama and McCain campaigns have agreed to an unusual free-flowing format for the three televised presidential debates, which begin Friday, but the McCain camp fought for and won a much more structured approach for the questioning at the vice-presidential debate, advisers to both campaigns said Saturday.

At the insistence of the McCain campaign, the Oct. 2 debate between the Republican nominee for vice president, Gov. Sarah Palin, and her Democratic rival, Senator Joseph R. Biden Jr., will have shorter question-and-answer segments than those for the presidential nominees, the advisers said. There will also be much less opportunity for free-wheeling, direct exchanges between the running mates.

McCain advisers said they had been concerned that a loose format could leave Ms. Palin, a relatively inexperienced debater, at a disadvantage and largely on the defensive.
[...]
Commission members wanted a relaxed format that included time for unpredictable questioning and challenges between the two vice-presidential candidates. On Wednesday, the commission unanimously rejected a proposal sought by advisers to Ms. Palin and Senator John McCain of Arizona, the Republican presidential nominee, to have the moderator ask questions and the candidates answer, with no time for unfettered exchanges. Advisers to Mr. Biden say they were comfortable with either format.
Can't let Palin have to be on the "defensive" for her statements and opinions, huh? Mean ole Joe Biden might actually ask her a question she didn't have a scripted answer for! Smiley: laughSmiley: laughSmiley: laugh

Man, they must be pissing in their pants after seeing Palin fuck up the Gibson interview.

Biden is going to tear Palin to pieces.

McCain sent a mouse after a rattlesnake.

Typical move for an old fool.

You know I am caring less and less the more this stuff goes on.
I would prefer Obama win over McCain, but it wont be the end of the world, I hope, if he doesn't.
If only I could be reassured by smash.

October 2 is coming up pretty quick. I requested off the VP and the last two Pres debates. I'm already scheduled to work this Friday so I 'll have to watch the highlights of the first. Smiley: frown

Or maybe it's because they're both running for Vice President?

Biden and Palin aren't the only morons around here.

But Graham, who is in a wheelchair, can’t stand up - a fact Biden quickly picked up on.

“God love ya, what am I talking about,” Biden said. “You can tell I’m new,” he quipped, asking the audience to stand up for Graham instead." http://hotair.com/archives/2008/09/10/bidens-stevie-wonder-moment/ i think they have palin do debates with just joe biden just because he's moron.

I believe there were at least three news reports on gaffes Palin has made in the past month... can't think of them off the top of my head though. Transparency in D.C. was one that stuck out, but I know there were a few others...

Yeah, Biden will tear Palin a new new one. The only way the Republicans can probably turn it around is playing the "poor defenseless woman" card which has been a knee-jerk response to many issues so far. But it's getting old, and I for one am ready to see Biden go for the throat.

You ought to write with more clarity then. If someone did not comprehend your writing, it is because it was not clear enough.

Eschew obfuscation.

I'm actually hoping Biden wipes the floor with her, not because I'm some overzealous political spectator who treats this election like it's the superbowl (like some of you), but because I have a legitimate fear that Palin has done exactly what her appointment was intended to do - sway the vote. She needs to be made a fool of so the public at large can realize what an idiot she is and how much voting for that ticket will put our country at risk.

There is some kind of massive disconnect here, and it makes me sad.

*Cough cough* Um, actually your quote was listed in that thread, a few posts down:

Lol, the most recent gaffe:

In Columbia, Mo., this week, Mr. Biden urged a paraplegic state official to stand up to be recognized. “Chuck, stand up, let the people see you,” Mr. Biden shouted to State Senator Chuck Graham, before realizing, to his horror, that Mr. Graham uses a wheelchair.

“Oh, God love ya,” Mr. Biden said. “What am I talking about?”

No, Palin's not afraid. She's a pit bull, remember? That's the problem. She actually thinks she's ready to to be VP, which compounds her astounding ignorance a thousandfold.

Her overconfidence shall be her undoing.

Might be true. I'm overjoyed to have candidates like them. I'm afraid of unprepared mouthpieces like Palin who are elected not on their leadership capabilities, but on an attempt to sway voters by ignoring the real issues by making any attempt at true inquiry perceived as sexist or mean.

They're not exclusive. I'm hoping for the right result for the right reasons; I just also happen to enjoy the spectacle.

Pfft. Reality shows have better scripting. I don't like the idea of our electoral process being a spectacle.

But would the base they are trying to sway care about the debates?

It's all a bunch of jibber jabber.

This is pointless, but when watching Palin give some speech the other day, I swear I could see/hear both relief and pride in herself after successfully (albeit slowly) pronouncing "Mahmoud Ahmadinejad".

The Pubbies should be even more terrified of an electoral deadlock.

Pelosi could become acting President until such time as the deadlock were broken.

It's exciting that now being a man or woman of the people really means appealing to the lowest common denominator. Now if Palin and Larry the Cable Guy could just team up.

As inexperienced as Palin is, and despite her lower class, she seems to have more wits than GWB.

Appealing to the LCD has always been a vote-getter. Funny that.

Last year when he came to New York, all the local news stations were saying "Makmoud Akmahdinejad" and I kept thinking "Who is this and why should we care?"
