Because it's easier to think that there's a
cause than accepting that this is just how the universe came out in the Big Bang? That physics and chem and biochem and the progression of Evolution and of history, and the present state of medical knowlege and technology of the human race made THIS illness, to THIS person likely...even possibly inevitable?
Ever heard of Radical Acceptance? It's actually a really tricky skill to master.
You know my best comforting thought? I could have died when I was 5 of a two-year battle with leukemia. There are some things to be grateful for, no matter how much is taken away.
