But have very different connotations, depending on context. Screaming often makes people think of fear first. One screams in fear in a traumatic situation over which one has no control. Of course there is also the secondary meaning, of extremely heated yelling, as in a violent "Domestic".
Yelling often makes people think of fighting and anger. You yell at someone you are mad at, and you do it from a position of control, when you are standing your ground, or agressively attacking.
Parents yell at their kids all the time as part of family life, and Parental yelling is almost always done from a position of control.
