NY Times article on Sarah Palin

While it isn't hard to realize I am of the view that this woman should never been selected for VP candidate, I beeen reading nearly everything I can on her to stay inform. The biggest thing I get out of reading about Palin, is that the moment she things you are against her, she will attack and try to silence you.

I think the last 3 paragraphs sums up the way the McCain camp has been trying to silence all dissent about her in Alaska.

Quote:
As Ms. Palin’s star ascends, the McCain campaign, as often happens in national races, is controlling the words of those who know her well. Her mother-in-law, Faye Palin, has been asked not to speak to reporters, and aides sit in on interviews with old friends.

At a recent lunch gathering, an official with the Wasilla Chamber of Commerce asked its members to refer all calls from reporters to the governor’s office. Dianne Woodruff, a city councilwoman, shook her head.

“I was thinking, I don’t remember giving up my First Amendment rights,” Ms. Woodruff said. “Just because you’re not going gaga over Sarah doesn’t mean you can’t speak your mind.”

So she's friends with the scientology crowd, then?

Thanks I needed a laugh after reading various articles in both the NYTs and the Washington Post.

Post is doing a series on how the Justice department and how it went head to head against Cheney's cronies. I looking forward to follow this as well as finding time to read the excerpt from Woodward's new book.

I think Ms. Woodruff is about to be silenced.

Mudflats has been great for finding out how Alaska think about Palin. I love watching the video and reading the comments.

I would love to see Anti-Palin protests all across the nationat McShame-Palin rallies.

Palin keeps reminding me of why I dislike having Pallies in my DnD party. No matter how we tried to keep them lease, they would go charging off to kill evil.

haha, fact is unimportant.

What I'm wondering is, what about "radical muslims" would make them want to support a liberal democrat running for office? Sure, if you're a "rabid" republican, you might suggest that democrats are somehow weaker on defense and we'd be SITTING DUCKS! However, I would think our far less conservative social/civil rights stance would be less palatable than anything the "radical muslims" would "gain" from a supposed weaker defense.

Ugly,

Well the muslims for america support Obama. So when I say radical muslims are for Obama it's a fact.
So if I link a Christian website that supports Obama, I can state that radical Christians support Obama?

knoxsouthy wrote:
Obama was also against the surge that has been a tremendous success for the US, not so much for the radical muslims.
That's pretty weak. I mean, Palin didn't buckle in her kid, so she must support no seatbelts, right?

Last time I checked, we incarcerate people for committing a crime, not wanting to commit a crime. I'd love to rob a bank right now, does that make me a criminal?

So you've resigned yourself to the fact that McCain is going to lose?

Obama Osama...they're all the same.

I'm still trying to get over the fact that nearly half this country is ready to elect someone who has the name Barrack Hussein Obama. It's like they're not even trying.

You mean you seriously haven't noticed the trend of people voting for names they recognize? Isn't that how Bush got in? You can blame Bush and the media for this for blasting Osama all across the airwaves for over half a decade now.

Seems Knoxsouthy is a firm believer in the Bush Doctrine anyway.

Did anyone every explain to poor Palin what it was?

(Ooops, I said I'd stop laughing at her and start laughing at McCain again, and I've already slipped up.)

Republican presidential nominee John McCain held his first rally without running mate Sarah Palin today, and let's just say there were seats available.

The McCain "Road to Victory" rally was originally scheduled to be a pancake breakfast, but the campaign said there was such an outpouring of enthusiasm the event was shifted to the 15,000-seat Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena.

The may not have been the best idea: There were almost no supporters in any of the cavernous arena's 24 upper-level seating sections, and only eight of the 21 sections downstairs held fans. Only four of those were filled, though some supporters crowded around the stage on the arena floor.

I guess McCain needs... I dunno... maybe a celebrity to fill those seats?

Photo here of the stadium at about 20% capacity. Money well spent!
