i SO wanted to take them all (there were like 5) but they are the only things that AREN'T paid for by the insurance. they are nice and big too. GREAT for swaddleing... we DID stock up on everything else though.

We heisted some of the flat cloth diapers from the hospital to use as burp cloths. I don't think they ever noticed.

WOOT! Yay for genetic, memetic, and cultural reproduction. From one standpoint, new humans created out of almost nothing (a few bits of protein) is a miracle of nature that still continues to awe me. From another viewpoint, (thanks Mindel!) it's an automatic biochemical reaction that humans have to consciously take steps to avoid letting it run to it's conclusion.

Either way, I still think that raising a human well is the absolute most important job anyone can do. Equivalent to leading a country, being in charge of a nuclear weapons ******** or being a doctor. Because your baby is a future human adult, and every future human adult is a universe in itself, and is also one of the parts that sum up to make the whole of our future human civilization.

Congrats Aadyn! He's a cutie!

And what's up with the hospital not letting you take the stuff? At both hospitals for both my sons, the nurses were packing everything from my room for me to take home, haha. Every blanket, all those nice, thick diapers, and I think the first hospital even had some kind of little hospital onsie for me.

Congratulations Aadyn! He's absolutely gorgeous!

Nap when he naps. Say "yes" when someone asks if they can help and give them an honest answer how. Stock up on things you can eat with one hand and don't need to cook, like granola bars, cereal bars, beef jerky, etc.
