i waited a few days after the obama/oriley interview to see if anyone, especially the dems, would pick up on the hipocracy of orileys outrage at obamas tax proposals.

50 percent? outragous he exploded.

its true, if obama gets rid of the bush tax cut, it would jack up his tax rate, those people making over 250k a year, to around 38 to 39 percent. toss in obamas perposal for SS to eliminate the cap on contribution, which is currently around 100k this year, which would add another 8 and a half percent. making the total around 47 to 48 percent for people making over 250k.

that does sound outragous. and its a true statement. in words only.

consider this, something none of the dems or the media exploited for whatever reasons.

my tax rate is over 30 percent now. however, after deductions, deductions the poor wont have, my EFFECTIVE tax rate was only 12 percent this year. after i finnished deducting home interest, loan interest, property tax, and a few other things i only paid close to 12 percent interest on my income compared to the full 25 to 28 percent a friend of mine paid because he doesnt make enough money to own expensive stuff or have big loans.

mccain,s own 8 homes. thats 8 sets of property tax. toss in if they list them as income property, true or not, the write offs for everything in the upkeep of those 8 homes becomes deductable. bussiness that are not really bussiness. rental property that is not rented.

just to get ME to actually pay 30 percent on my taxes, he would have to jack the rate up to 60 or 70 percent. and i only own one home. or he would have to eliminate the deductions from the tax code.

if the government is actually getting 15 percent from high income earners, i would be supprised. and that individual would have to be an idiot.

the tax code was written for the rich. the poor pay the full amount, the rich, while they do pay more, actually pay a significantly less percentage of their income in taxes every year. the poor dont get to stop contributing to SS EVER. the rich only have to pay it on the first 100k of their income. the poor dont deduct expenses from their second and third homes. they dont get to deduct tens of thousands, sometimes hundreds of thousands, of dollars in loan interest.

they pay the full bill. while EVERONE but the most stupid of those making over 250k never do. they never pay theor fair share. never have. and if they have it their way, they never will.

yet look how those right wing pundits scream like stuck pigs....with lipstick...when someone dares threaten to make them pay a little more even if it will still fall way short of making them pay their fair share.

what is totally baffeling is, this is common knoledge. why isnt anyone tossing it back in theri faces? the media? the public? or even the dems?

I thought Obama did pretty well. I kinda wish I had caught them on TV instead of youtube. Would be nice to see O'Reilly talk to whoever he did for the few minutes after.

I only caught Day One because splitting it into three parts was lame and I wasn't about to watch three days of O'Rielly.

I thought Obama did well one Day One though.

All four parts are up and pretty easy to find. I was able to watch part 4 last night about 3 hours after it originally aired. It may have been up soon but that's when I got home from work.

You sir are as dumb as a rock. The solution is really quite simple, have every single american pay the same % of their income towards taxes.

Thinking like this is why you will never own a business nor employee anyone.
----------------------------------------------------------------

dumb as a rock? i agree with you. EVERYONE should pay the same rate.

the differance between you and me is i KNOW that is not happening. i dont pay teh same rate as someone making less than me. infact, i pay substantually LESS than some chump making 40 or 50k a year barely making ends meet.

sure, the rate i am charged is higher than theirs. but after i get done with the tax code and the deductions written especially for people like me, i actually pay less than HALF the percentage the hard working people in this country pay.

and you can bet, the higher you go on the income chain, the less they actually pay reguardless of the smoke screen tax rate they had the public that makes it look like they pay more.

and BTW, i have owned a bussiness. a pool cleaning service. i have hired people to work for me too. i understand the significance of having to pay into unemployeement, and paying half for their SS contributions. i understand that to pay someone 10 bucks an hour, i have to spend 18 bucks an hour to keep uncle sam from taking me to court.

you are right we all should pay the SAME rate. so if its going to be 28 percent, lets make it 28 percent with ZERO DEDUCTIONS. :listens to lipstick wearing pigs all over the country howling in dismay and outrage......

put your money where your mouth is knocksouth. stand up and tell your party you want FAIR taxation, adn not a smokescreen tax code that caters to the rich and leaves the poor paying the lions share of this countries bills.

i agree with you. the rate should be the same across the board. the EFFECTIVE rate. not the rate before deductions.

the only way that would happen with this POS tax code is to jack up the over 250kcrowd to 60 or 70 percent before deductions.

you republican yahoos talk in half truths. just enough to make a soundbite the sheep wont bother thinking past.

oriley was a gracious host. sure he spit out the right wing propaganda, but he did allow obama to respond without trying to talk over him like most other fox news hosts do.

the problem is, obama, while doing a good job explaining his position, didnt NAIL oriley to the wall with his EFFECTIVE tax rate when he started howling about 50 percent.

he should have chellenged him with his "tax rate" according to the code vs what he actually paid after deductions. deductions the poor will never have.

obama did a good job looking competant, but he missed an opertunity to slam the right wing stand hard. and the ammunition to do it is common knoledge. and oriley did a good job spitting out the right wing bs about fairness as of he personally has ever had to pay his fair share.

it came off as a 50/50. both making their points. obama needs to do better than that.
