If we were going to vote Palin in to, say, run a small business I'd say this is a serious problem. However, if you have an army of people to do the details for you, I'm most concerned whether or not you (1) get good people and (2) actually listen to them.
Pure baldfaced lying is not a great way to begin. It may work wonders with voters, however.
