Pretty disappointing .
It was a disappointment, tbh. The meat of the game is basically an intergalactic Civ game, just not quite as detailed as a Civ game. Make nice with some people, defend yourself from random pirates and hostile planets. Gather spices to trade, lay waste to other beings. I found a solar systam that was near my home system, but it had a species in it already and you cant do anything in the system until there are no species inhabiting it. This particular species was still in tribal stage, heh. I nuked every little freaking tribe on the planet and set up shop. :D The scope of the game is still there.
Have you seen the giant "elite' monsters in creature stage? They are huge and unkillable at that level, they can come back in tribal stage and you can band together with other tribes and actually kill one. Im sure they are in civ stage too though i never saw one. They are also in space stage and you can bomb them. Its just funny that they are still around, imo.
It's cool terraforming planets from these desolate wastelands with abundant spice geysers into actual habitable places. There are a lot of things you can do to customize them. Ive played many hours of space stage and i still have quite a few empty slots in my ability inventories. So, it seems there is still a lot to get.
My advice is to just give space age a chance. Once the disappointment of where the game headed wears off, it's not all that bad.
