Some of you may have heard. Google is releasing a new open source web broswer called Google Chrome.

Do you think we need another browser? I plan on waiting a few weeks for the "techies" to make it safer through addons (No-Script and AdBlock esque addons) Then give it a go around.

From the Screen shots it looks a lot cleaner then firefox. My actual webpage tends to get scrunched with only 1 or 2 extra toolbars in Firefox.

What are your thoughts?

I think you're a ****.

Furthermore, I googled chrome and apparently it (being google) thinks I want to buy some sort of hippy inventory sack.

well firefox is pretty much infinitely customizable, there are ways of making it very very minimalistic. I don't really see what they can do that's so amazing, they don't actually provide any of the content, the websites do, and people want to see websites the way they're supposed to. It's just a different skin really. That said I'll probably try it out and see if there is something.

I've been playing around with it a bit. It's a lot more than just a new skin.

I like how the "incognito window" (any cookies/history from that window gets erased, leaving the rest of your history intact) was obviously designed for **** and workplace sneakery, but they say it's for "shopping for your wife's birthday present."

Not having adblock is killing me, so I can't use it full time.

At the very least, it's open source, so it'll be good for the consumer to have any novel ideas get appropriated.

Edit: It seems slower to open tabs than Firefox, however. We'll see.

Edit 2: Maybe it's just slow loading pages on Alla that have 20 ads & trackers that normally get blocked.

Edit 3: Seems like every time an advertisement refreshes, the entire browser hangs for a second. Guess I'll go back to firefox and wait this out a while.

I'm glad I'm not a web developer right about now.
