Gustav has been upgraded to a category 4 hurricane, with plenty of warm water on it's projected path, which includes N'Orleans.

Oh good, another chance for the Pubbies to make a mess out of a relief aid. Right during the GE too!

Buh-bye Louisiana. Hopefully everyone is smart enough to evacuate this time, if not hopefully it takes all the stupid ones with them.

unfortunatly in the US that usually means "evacuate, or else we'll eventually send you a strongly worded letter, if you don't die."

Bloody hell. As bad as NC needs the rain, I hope it throws some our way when it hits land and disperses.

Yeah I posted about it in "that other forum" here a couple days ago. What's crazy is that the infrastructure isn't completely repaired yet and apparently there's an $800 million gap in the repair budget. 3 years and they're still not 100% - if Katrina took them out before, it's crazy to think Gustav doesn't have a chance to equal or surpass Katrina's damage factor.

My place to stay fell through...I am sad. I think I'll just stand in the street naked and drunk when Gustav makes landfall challenging him to do his worst.

The best part about the new orleans repairs? They are repairing everything to the same failed standards that didn't work last time!

If you stay, make sure to loot yourself up some "swimmies" for your arms.

Really? That was worth creating a whole new account for? You need to pick your battles better. Smiley: disappointed

After Katrina, anyone in Louisiana who builds a house below sea level, "protected" by levies deserves what he gets. Neither any government agency nor insurance company should bail these fools out when their houses go underwater. You build there at your own risk. Don't expect the rest of us who make saner choices when we decide where to live pay for the stupidity, stubborness of those foolish few. How many times do the insurance companies and government have to rebuild houses that we know won't last. Take your insurance payment and move. No insurance? Even more of a reason to get out of there.
