If this turns out to be real, it'll be close to the worst VP pick in recent memory. It would make the Quyale pick look absolutely Machiavellian.

She's a social conservative, has boobs, she has a downs-syndrome child and runs Alaska.....

Seems like a winner to me.

(don't think she's the pick though)

As I mentioned in the other thread, she'd under investigation for abuse of power. A bipartisan panel voted 12-0 to appoint an independent investigator to look into her firing a police official after said official refused to fire her sister's ex-husband.

Bwahahahahahahaha!!!

I love it! I'm more excited about this than I was about Biden Smiley: grin

America, when McCain shuffles off his mortal coil, are you ready to have a one-year governor of Alaska and former mayor of a town of 6,000 become your Commander in Chief? Smiley: laugh

If she's on the ticket, it's for one reason only: She has tits. Except that Clinton's die-hards loved Clinton for her years of hard experience (in their eyes anyway). If all you needed was boobs to get the woman vote, Mondale would have been sitting in the Oval Office.

Oh well, at least she'll win Alaska for the GOP.

Was Alaska seriously in play? I thought they were pretty conservative up there.

Almost as seriously as Delaware.

This can't be real.

The citizens of Alaska are presently rather PO'd at the Republicans; they bring home the bacon to maintain the status quo, but they don't actually do anything to improve things up there. (According to my sister Carol who lives in Anchorage, anyway.)

No, but Obama is only down by 5 there so at least they won't feel the urge to waste money running ads in the Anchorage market.

That's a valid point. They wouldn't have to defend it. So they'll just be down to having to defend 14 other states they shouldn't have to spend money in.

ETA: Last Intrade futures trade: Palin at 92. The ask is 96. Someone's going to make a lot of money when this falls apart.

Wow, it's real.

This a MONUMENTAL blunder.

VP picks largely don't matter, yadda yadda, but this is a huge, huge, mistake. Biden will destroy her in the VP debate, and frankly now the Biden pick looks like genius. Maybe Axelrod knew.

Grats on your one week news cycle, guys, way to crazily misunderstand women voters.

What are the odds that McCain picked her with his *****?

It'll be the most watched one, ever, without question. Look, maybe I'm selling her short. I'll freely admit that the Alaska Governor race doesn't draw much of my attention, but she better be Clarence Darrow in a skirt or the GOP will literally asking their base to vote for the oldest candidate in history, who has visible facial scars from his fight with skin cancer, with a 44 year old woman one heartbeat away. I think they're underestimating how many of them will sit on their hands.

I'll give them this, it took balls. The only reason you can think they made it is, no joke, desperation. The only reason you make this pick if you feel it's ABSOLUTELY REQUIRED that you need a game changer. This kind of voltage on the bottom of the ticket is extremely unusual for that team.

So kudos to them for not being risk adverse, and guaranteeing an outcome that will be historic either way.

Nothing will make McCain look more youthful and ready to take on the presidency than seeing him standing next to a 42 year old beauty pagent queen.

Text from a friend who does opposition research, verbatim:

"I came, how was it for you?"

Maybe McCain will get caught ******* her on Halloween with them dressed as Adolf and Eva. Just to cement the "Maverick" image.

Can you say bipartisan investigation?

some news article from July wrote:
Lawmakers will hire someone within a week to investigate whether Governor Sarah Palin abused her power in firing Public Safety Commissioner Walt Monegan. The legislative council approved 100,000 dollars for the investigation that will find out whether Palin was angry at Monegan for not firing an Alaska State Trooper who went through a messy divorce with Palin's sister.

On Monday afternoon, the Joint Legislative Council, filled with Republicans and Democrats, voted 12 to 0 to formally call for an investigation against Governor Palin
