An Ode to Gbaji, The Fallen SageFollow

#1 Aug 28 2008 at 7:34 AM Rating: Default
CopyPasta is my nitch and in memory of Gbaji's fallen karma, I vow to avenge his wordiness with a complete CopyPasta of War And Peace in his Wiki. Of course even my leet CopyPasta skills will be tried by this task, but eventually I will succeed.

My dear no longer vibrantly green Gbaji, I salute you.

Were my rate button working, I might be inclined to karma camp him up just to tweak collective nipples of Gbaji haters. Alas, proxy errors abound this morning.

I'm sure it's just the specific proxy server I'm hitting, and thus not a global problem, but it's damn annoying.

I may just rate him back up to Sage, since it's easier for me to identify him by color.

It's quite funny, actually. One minute, I'm trolling the forums here and see him as a Scholar, the next minute, I troll =1 and see him as a sage.

Make up your damn minds already.

Lol. It's darn annoying to me too. Can't find my own posts either... ;)

I guess the karma system is working as intended. You'll get the kind of posts you rate up and eventually lose the ones you rate down. All about choices I guess...

Doesn't really matter. I'm pretty certain that there are at least two posters who habitually just rate down anything I post, no matter what topic. Given the sheer number of times I've posted something helpful and/or amusing and non confrontational, had it rated up to excellent on day one, and then read the same thread a day or three later (with no additional posts by me in that thread) only to see the rating has dropped to default, it's pretty obvious that this is what's happening.

Not meaning to whine about Karma, but I've seen this going on for at least a year or so. I remember making the same observation some time ago when Kao was asking about feedback to the Karma system, and I asked him if he could come up with a way to catch that. It was quite obvious that a person or two would get annoyed with something I said in one thread and then search for all the threads I'd made recently and rate them all down. I don't think that's in the spirit of the karma rules, but there's nothing preventing someone from doing that.

I think it's a bit of a shame gbaji's not sage anymore. In a way, his sageness was proof that the karma system was kinda meaningless.

Still, I hope you get it back man. I do think you're wrong on pretty much every issue, but I admire your perseverance and single-mindedness. And compared to posters like Knox or Boomsticker, you're actually quite smart not that stupid still stupid but not quite as much as them.

If it were just one or 2, I could do something about it. When it hits double digets on a regular basis, you're kinda screwed.

Gbaji even though you are an insufferable cnut, I'll still admire your ability to argue anything regardless of how painfully wrong you are.

Besides, Scholarism isn't that bad.

I'm not going to change what I post or why because of a color on the screen. If you feel the need to rate me down because I express an opinion you don't agree with, by all means go for it. It's your rate button. I'll just toss the idea out there that this forum gets exactly the type of posts it rewards via the karma system. If I hadn't already started with such a high post count, I'm quite sure I'd have been sub-defaulted a couple years ago. No new poster can express similar views as I do without pretty much immediately going there (sane posting or not).

Odd how Totem doesn't get rated down. Oh right, he doesn't make flawed arguments and cite right wing blogs read by 11 people.

Trust me, Cap, it has nothing to do with your politics. Nothing at all. It's your complete lack of rhetorical ability.

Sorry :(

This isn't happening, ace.

Today is the first day I've rated any of your posts in, oh I don't know, probably ever. I don't notice the Karma system exits until someone mentions it.
