I just noticed that Martin Sheen has been doing the narration for John McCain television ads. As in Martin Sheen, the actor that plays the President of the United States in that West Wing show. How subliminal.

ETA: I don't know for certain that it's him; but it sounds just like him.

This seems exceptionally unlikely. Do you mean it seems to you as if the voice is Martin Sheen, or you actually know it's Martin Sheen?

ETA: Right.

Sheen endorsed Obama, long ago. If he was doing voiceovers for McCain it'd be on FoxNews in five minute rotation all day, for months.

Here's the ad that I was referring to. I initially saw it during Olympics coverage and was pretty sure that it was Sheen.

Sounds nothing like him. I mean, sure, more than Fran Drescher does, but it has none of the characteristics of his normal speaking voice.

You're not the only one who hears a similarity, apparently. I still don't hear it, at all.

I can tell it's not him too but I can hear how it's similar. Seems like it's intentional. They're just trying to sway some voters with a familiar voice most likely.

Edit- seems I'm stating the obvious as usual.

Was this intentional? Knowing that a lot of progressives and possibly a few independents enjoyed Sheen’s turn as President Josiah Bartlet on The West Wing (the show did have about 17 million viewers at its peak), is the McCain campaign trying to capitalize on this. Could they be trying to confuse the “low information voters” into thinking that the liberal Sheen is on his side?

Not trying imply you're a low information voter PF but it just shows how likely this is. It made you wonder enough to ask about it(which proves you're not a moron).
I'm betting all they wanted was to confuse a number of people and possibly change their minds if they were on the fence. If it's true it's just sad.

It's the same sort of whispery, gravelly style, but obviously being done by someone much younger.

Also, Smiley: lol @ "the original maverick." 230+ years of American history and he's the first one!
