So, while we're talking about parenting issuesFollow

Half of these diseases have been gone for so long because people vaccinated their kids, now some make a come back because parents are listening to some news channel reporting on one study that was done. It's about as bad as the flu shot causes Guillain Barré, it's a 1 in a million chance, and they're not even sure it's the cause.

I thought they stopped vaccinating for that in the late 60's or early 70's or so. Did they start again?

The stopped vaccinating for small pox, they still vaccinate for polio.

Just want to give a small correction to this. They don't give children small pox anymore, though they are thinking of doing it again. When I was going to Iraq everyone had to get either their first small pox shot, or a booster (basicaly depended on your age and if you had it already). They were worried that out of the 2 countries that had live small pox Russia might have a bad count of their supply.

But I agree, my son is up to date, ever since his mom lost her custody of him. The vaccines aren't even a "live" version of what it is for. Its either a dead version or something close. Like for the small pox vaccine it is version of monkey pox they use.

That seems like a terrible idea. Why do people hate children so?

Your mother's a *****. You like to jack off dogs. That's right, you heard me. You like to grab that dog by the bone and rub it like a ski pole. Your dad? Gay. Your priest? Straight. **** off and let me post. It's not true, it's all in good fun. Now go away.

Over here in Britain, at one stage it was down to the schools to give vaccinations, with the parent's consent. I don't know if that has changed, but I distinctly remember taking home the parent permission forms for my MMR jab when I was 7 or 8, and then my Meningitis one at 13 or 14.

Not that my Meningitis jab worked, I caught it at 18 years old anyway from someone in the factory I worked in. Spent a week in hospital because the doctor didn't believe I had it until they did the lumbar puncture and got the results.

Other than that, I'm up to date, and glad of it.

Out of curiosity, do you all get your kids vaccinated, and if so, do you do it early or wait 'til they're near school age?

There was an article on cnn.com this morning about measles outbreaks and how pediatricians are saying preventable infectious diseases are becoming more common in the U.S. because parents hesitate to vaccinate their kids.

I'm curious about what you all think. If you've discussed this until you're ready to vomit, just post a link to whatever parenting forum you've used.
