As September quickly approaches, I think it's time to see how the kiddies of our forum denizens have enjoyed their summer. If you don't have kids, feel free to post pics of some other summer fun. (Just not your boobs, Catwho)

Anywhoooo...here are my two....

Mia channels Bowie at the Medicine Hat Fair.

Jack thinks rides are cool.

Hannah has been enjoying playing in the water this summer, when it's been nice enough (this is the rainiest August I can remember. We also went to the zoo in July, where she was suspicious of some of the animals, concerned about others, and really loved the fake ones.

I have some photos from August, but they're not uploaded yet.

The pic of Jack made me laugh really hard Smiley: lol And I can not believe how big Noah and Hannah have gotten!!!!

I've been lax in uploading my new pics since July to the PC so you'll have to deal with May and Junes. The boys haven't changed too much since then, I think. We went to Myrtle beach in June, where the kids enjoyed sand and surf. It's hard to get pictures of Xavier not being silly but then again I guess if I did I wouldnt be capturing the true boy. Ashe loves his sunglasses he got in preperation for the beach, that he likes to wear them almost constantly. And it seems every weekend, Xavier has found something new to bring home and call a pet Smiley: rolleyes

While we were in Michigan vacationing after my brothers wedding, we went to the studio where I had my senior portraits taken eons ago to get 1 year portraits made of Tristan. He had to do them as candids of Tristan playing because Tristan is too much of an on-the-go kid to sit still for a pose and gets quite upset if you try to make him sit still, but nonetheless a few of the shots came out absolutely gorgeous. (I have tried to edit out the watermark where I could, this is basically just a screencap of the website where the digital proofs are stored, since that site requires a password I'm not comfortable giving out.

ETA: DSD how on earth do you get Ashe to wear sunglasses. Tristan won't let me put anything on his face and head, so no sunglasses, no hats. Since I'm very very white and quite cautious about the sun, it's stressing me right the hell out.

Hannah's nine feet tall. I had to have NASA custom build her new car seat. It was that or Sarah bought it at WalMart. One of those, who can remember.

It took 2 weeks of me continuously putting them on him when he would rip them off for him to get that sunglasses were cool. Once he thought that, you cant keep them off him Smiley: smile

Oh yes. He's smarter than me and he knows it. We're seeing the first hints of tantrum-throwing right on schedule. It's not unusual for him to start to try to hit when denied something, so we're having to deal with that, though I think at least part of that is due to his frustration at not being able to express his frustration another way.

However, his language development is really starting to pick up and hopefully that will change soon. I'm kinda amused by the fact that sometimes his word for something has nothing to do with what WE call that something. For example, since he was about 9 months old, I've called nursing "num nums" thinking it would be an easy word for him to master so that he can request nursing. I never really used the words "boob" or "boobie" with him, and he rarely gets bottles, and when he does, we usually say "water bottle" or "milk bottle" and not just "bottle." A cup with a straw or without has always been "cup." So there's been very little "B" sound associated with nursing or with drinking in general.

However, last week while we were on vacation, we settled in to nurse. He pointed right at my nipple and said proudly "Ba ba!" I've since learned that anything to drink--a cup with a straw, a sippy cup, a bottle and nursing--is called "ba ba." The good news is, he can now request nursing in some way that doesn't involve pulling on my shirt or climbing into my lap and trying to lay down across it. The bad news is, now when I try to correct him and call it "num nums" he ARGUES with me. So our conversation goes something like this:

"Ba ba?"
"Sure, you can have num-nums"
"Ba ba!"
"No, those are num-nums"
"BA BA!!!"

I suspect he'll end up winning this one, grrr.

I have to say, Xavier has the most amazing dimple in his smile, and Ashe looks so SERIOUS he's almost frightening in his intensity. He's plotting something, I swear it.

Also, did either of them go through a phase where they wanted NOTHING to do with the sand? We were at Lake Michigan on a number of occasions while on vacation, and while Tristan eventually decided he liked the noisy water (to the point of trying to run out into it even when it was so cold that I had decided we wouldn't swim because I couldn't feel my legs when I got waist-deep) he could not abide the sand. Sat on the sheet on the beach and would not venture off of it, wouldn't dig, and if he got sand on his hand, he'd wave it wildly trying to get the sand off.

There goes my plans for a sandbox.

That's true. I hadn't stopped to think of it, but they're not quite as overwhelming now as they had been before, are they?

Thanks! I'd rest a little easier, however, if I didn't suspect he was already figuring out how to make them work for him.

What a cutie Smiley: thumbsup

Hopefully Aedyn will start to be more comfortable getting in the water now that we have a YMCA membership and can take her swimming more.

Mia is constantly get one over on me these days. Example:

Mia: Mom, I want to go to school.

Me: You have to be bigger, you have to be 5. How old are you now?

Mia: 3

Me: So, you have 2 more years until you can go to school.

Mia: Well, maybe I can go to preschool.

Me: Doh.

When I was in high school I was at a friend's house. We were playing with makeup or our hair or something silly, giggling like girls do.

Her little nephew, probably 18 months old or so at the time, heard us laughing and came into the room, closed the door behind him and stood there wiggling his eyebrows at us. It was the cutest thing ever.

We were all, "Okay, Romeo, you've got us. Now what?"

I think we ended up putting makeup on him. Probably turned him gay or something.

Yeah, I have to be quick to correct myself around Hannah. If she catches even the smallest inaccuracy, she's all over me about it. She is also constantly nagging me to do this or that "properly".

Neither of my kids have an aversion to sand, or dirt, or mud. But each kid is different in their likes and dislikes so Im not surprised Tristan doesnt like sand. I wouldnt worry too much about it. At this age all they do is throw it behind their backs and on to some suspecting kid or try to eat it.
I noticed (again) today how different Ashe is from Zavi at this age. When Zavi was almost 2 all he wanted to do at playgrounds was to find other kids and play with them, tagging along with the older kids. Ashe? Nope, he's a damn bully. I caught him trying to beat up a 3 yr old at the park today, because the 3 yr old dared to try and share the playground equipment Smiley: rolleyes
Ashe was just diagnosed with juvenile asthma this week. We had a thrid episode of respitory distress which ended us at ER in the middle of nowhere NJ this weekend after attending a wedding. Basically at the sign of a cold he's on an inhaler and I was told to stop dreaming of the day when he would mow our lawn for us. Fortunately we have another Smiley: lol

All good pictures everyone!

Noah is huge now. He's almost too big to play in his football league. 'Course, his dad is 6'6", so I'm not surprised.
