One that won't get you bored...

WoW is on the shelf for the moment.

EQ2 is painful to level (stuck at 77).

Could care less of LOTR.

Are there any good ones coming down the pike??? Forgive me but I am fairly clueless about the future ones.

Also, I would love to have an MMORPG for my XBOX360 that's gathering dust on top of my TV set...

Please help!

I think that once you tried one epic-fantasy type MMO, you've tried them all. There's very little difference amonst them in the grand scheme of things.

With that said, Vanguard was easily my favorite of the genre. It seemed to have just enough 'extra' stuff to make it a bit more interesting. I've heard that AoC is a decent game, but has some bugginess to work out, and of course Warhammer is the latest and is currently in beta.

Eve was a nice change of scenery, but it's got a HUGE learning curve and a long road to haul to get to where you can even imagine being a bad-*** space pirate. Leveling your character is time based versus xp based so it's hard to get anywhere near caught up to the veteran players. Still it's graphically beautiful, the 3-D space battles are a nice change of pace, and being a vulnerable newb slipping through space, knowing that at any moment you could get ganked, is kind of fun.

I've been finding a change of pace playing PvMP in LoTRO. I've never really PvPed before to any extent. The zergy wars against real people are kinda fun and very different from the game of learning and being able to predict mob placement, pathing, and response.

how the hell are you stuck at lvl 77 in EQ2? Have you completed all the quests in KP KJ and JW? Do you have your workmens hammer? (it ports you to JW) Do you have guildies to take you through Vaults, Maidens, COA, Seb, and COD?

Shhh.

Darkfall is really just a creation of Blizzard, I think. Call it preemptive customer retention, since Darkfall has been in development since WoW was just a gleam in a nerd's eye.

So Darkfall is the mythical carrot dangling out there, promising everything and keeping players locked into the genre that continually fails to deliver. It's brilliant, really.

AoC is definitely worth the $30-$40 for a month or two. Just the graphics alone are a real treat, the new combat is fun and the classes are all pretty exciting to play.

WarHammer Online comes out in a month, Champions Online, Star Trek Online, Stargate Online, A-Team Online all come out in the future.

I was on the mailing list for this game, but haven't heard anything for quite awhile.

The claims of player-driven storyline and environment does seem like it could be the game to offer something entirely different, rather than just fancier graphics and cooler combat moves.

Everything about the game sounds fantastic. Though I suspect I'll be dead before it's done.

It's not so much the ability to have people help through these quests, but more of the expansion itself... It's kinda hard to put in words but Kunark was a horrible expansion IMHO. It was like they tried to pull a WoW but combined the worst aspects of lots of quests and faction grindage

I gave it another shot this past weekend while I was visiting a buddy of mine. He raids endgame but we just couldn't get anything going in JW. I just got tired of killing lions, cockatrics, and cacti.

KoS was a great expansion. So was faydawr. Kunark just sucked.

LoTRO's first expansion, Mines of Moria, comes out in October. Good thing. I've been playing since only April of this year (a year less than most), but seems I've mostly 'done it all'.

I liked Kunark. Lots of quests. Lots of cash. No need to necessarily group but lots of grouping to be had.

Suits me.

I liked Kunark as well. I thought they did a great job, you really can not run out of quests, and tons to do both solo and grouping. And the cash. my god the cash! /drool

if it makes you feel better, levels are not going up. They're adding in I think 60 new AAs and a new tree line to go down. And the guildhalls are almost here
http://fanfaire08.feldoncentral.com/
Level 70 Guild Hall (Tier 3)
Purchase: 1,000p
Upkeep: 10p, 200k status
Cities: Antonica, Commonlands
Description: A 25 room guild castle as seen at Fan Faire
First, you’ll be able to purchase a house item from the city status merchant that will allow you to port from your personal house straight to your guild hall. Secondly, we’ve reduced the cost of the “Call to Guild Hall” amenity greatly. It will now only cost 1p, 250k status to purchase instead of 10p, 2 million status. In addition we’ve lowered the recast timer on Call to Guild Hall so you can use it every 15 minutes instead of once per hour.

Prolly not. I wish to make it through my next 25 years with my wife. Lord knows, MMOs aren't conducive to good marital relations, especially when one member of the marriage hates them. My son has been egging me on though. He wants me to play one of those witch elf classes.

age of conan has awsome graphics. its fun for a couple months. plenty of quests and it is solo player ortientated which is why its still here and vanguard isnt.

vanguard is more time intensive. very group orientated if you want to see anything other than outdoor zones. great graphics.

eq2....see vanguard. not very big for the same reason.

warhammer is comming out soon. pvp. will fall on its face shortly after launch like all pvp based games do. getting ganked is excieting mabe the first 50 times, then its just a pain. see planetside, doac, ac2 and imagine them all with worse graphics. very cartoonish.

they all get boaring. and the more of them you play, the faster you tire of them. whack-a-mole for loot and levels. all of them. the only real choices you have are do you play in a group or solo.

check out www.mmorpg.com

it has links to all of them. and all of them are fun for the first 20 levels or so which is more playtime than you get from a fps game. just try them all and move on once the grind sets in to the next one. what any one of them lack in the addiction factor, they make up in the number of choices we have.

personally, im waiting for SOE to remake EQ1 with WoW playstyle from start to finnish. they have the best world, and for me, the worst playstyle game mechanics. EQ2 was a step in the right direction, but it didnt go anywhere near far enough. im thinking early 2050ish?
