- exemption from jokes made at his expense

Well the fact that obama is black shouldn't entitle him to votes, but it seems it does. Just sayin' it works both ways.

If you're saying that voting for McCain because he's "a hero" is as foolish as voting for Obama simply because he's black, I agree with ya 100%

To whom? If people who crashed million dollar jets and were imprisoned and tortured want to vote for McCain because of his history, that's fine. If black folks want to vote for O because he's half black, that's fine too.

So, smash says "well if he stayed to get others released it makes him hero"..well using that same logic, how is staying so that your enemy isn't helped even a little bit, not brave and heroic?

Explain to me how it is you think he managed to "stay" against the wishes of his captors, please. Paint that picture for me, because I'm honestly curious. This is what you're proposing:

The men who ruthlessly tortured him to the point of permanent physical injury wanted to release him for PR purposes, but Mighty John McCain declared "No! Not unless my comrades are released also!" and instead of hitting him in the stomach with a stick and taking pictures then releasing him and a press release they said "Well, we would never do something one of our prisoners didn't want! You can stay, Johnny!"

How fucking gullible are you, exactly??

I explained it in one of my posts, did you read it? The Vietnamese wanted to release McCain after his father became the commander of the US forces to give themselves an image boost and to give McCain a chance to show that officers were willing to accept preferential treatment.

It's all on the public record, I don't know why you're being so obtuse about this.

haha, I think you're missing the point. I'll bold it: If the Vietnamese really wanted to "release" McCain, his "polite decline" would have been irrelevant. They could have made him say he wanted to leave...considering they successfully made him confess to a number of things and he even attempted suicide. They're persuasive, the torturers.

No I actually knew about this well before I even knew about wikipedia; having a History (and love of history) degree kind of teaches you some things.

But hey, if it's in wikipedia it must mean there are no other sources in the world that information could come from.

Yeah, ok, sure. You're right. Go back to watching He-Haw thinking it's a documentary or whatever it was we pulled you away from. On the other hand, maybe you should stick around, you have the fringe benefit of making Gbaji appear relatively intelligent.

Not fucking research or critical thinking skills, apparently.

Was it in the history of dog grooming or something?

What sort of abject diploma factory gave you a degree? Seriously, now. Community college? It was community college, huh?

Heard of what? That McCain was a POW? You think there's a person in the US that has heard of McCain that doesn't know that he was POW? Or that he refused to leave his men? Or that he was tortured? You think his campaign would let that slide by and what that camp *really* needs is someone who's taken a "history of well publicized ******** from the last 50 years" class to bring it all on out to the open so it can be, finally, appreciated by all?

No, the University of Massachusetts; I guess that's not good enough for you either.

But hey, just keep insulting me and not making any actual points, you're good at that.

And Nexa are you serious? I don't even LIKE John McCain, so why would I just automatically take what he says at face value?

I did not realize there were so many... google had at least 6 unique hits in the first page.

Edit:
But they all have the same logo. I don't get it.

Most state universities (I say most, but I'm not sure actually...there are, at least, several) are part of a system with a flagship campus. For example, when most people say they went to The University of Massachusetts, they're referring to the Amherst campus, which is the "main" campus. However, they may have attended in Boston, Lowell, etc. New Hampshire, Maine, Tennessee, are all systems like this, just off the top of my head. Also California...and I'm sure many more.
