Seems the Olympic Opening Ceremonies were doctored up a bit for tv.

I watched the opening ceremonies and while the fireworks were spectacular I found the people stuff to be more amazing.

Learning that some of what I was watching didn't actually appear at the stadium doesn't add to, or lesson my enjoyment of the event. But I find it interesting none-the-less.

Heh. Hubby actually mentioned this when we were watching the fireworks. He started laughing and said that China must have some of the most lax regulations for pilots to fly in conditions like that for cameramen to get those shots or these pilots were paid a buttload of money to risk their lives to fly around fireworks.

that was the most spectactular olympic opening i have ever seen. that roll out giant lcd screen was absolutly awe inspiring.

too bad it is tainted by the fact that china will spend billions to impress the world, but let large swaths of its country mire in destitution and poverty. if they spent half as much on their earthquake victims, there would be a new city rising from the dusts instead of a flattened village full of jobless, homeless hungry people.

welcome to politics. where governments shine like shooting stars on the backs of the hungry, homeless and destitute people.

Apparently there was some little girl singing during one part and it's come out now that she was apparently lip-syncing. It seems the girl who actually sang the song wasn't cute enough for the performance Smiley: oyvey

How ugly would a little girl have to be to not be cute enough?

Apparently, they've never heard of lighting of make-up in China. The little girl who got bumped is far from ugly and easily could've been "dressed" up if they desired so.

I suppose it's good to know the shallow obsession with looks is not strictly an American phenomenon.

Am I the only one who realized at the time the foot step fireworks were fake? The announcer said they were cinematics when they were going ogg. As for the little girl, meh. It's television. What do you expect? It was meant to be entertainment and in that respect it worked fine. Our whole music industry is based upon picking the cute singer over the talented one.

Nexa told me they were, however, she also told me the drummers were robots and that the children were actually 35 years old, having been subject to the rarely discussed "Chinese spine binding".
