Hi, gbaji!
What a wonderful place to be. Mrs. Totem says, "Hello everyone! We are having a terrific time and want to move here. Now it's time to come inside now. Let's get some."

More on our romantic getaway later. I got to go have sex now.

Nice! Grats and all that... :)

Where abouts are you guys staying? If it's in/near the Hotel Circle area (or that's not too far from where you're at), try hitting the Tickled Trout bar at some point. It's a fun "dive bar" type place, attached to the Ramada. Karaoke on Wed, Fri, and Sat nights. Um... That's when you want to go (get there before 8 if you can unless you want to stand all night. It's *really* tiny). If there's a guy named Joe working the bar, um... he has no idea who my screen name is, but he likes playing "stump the bartender", and likes playing "guess the ingredients" even more...

The food isn't bad either. :)

Marriot on Coronado Island. Very nice resort, great views, and terrific location, central to the beaches and activities. Of course, you know all this, lol, being from here. Thinking of hitting the museums and art galleries after a early morning run on the beach, followed by coffee and danish, and the Gaslamp district for the House of Blues at night. Tomorrow is our actual 25th, so it'll have to be a full day.

Any other ideas?

We leave for Catalina Island on Wednesday morning and will hit the ocean for some snorkling and then a spa afterwards. Heheh, we went rock wall climbing at midnight last night, and roller blading at sunset along the beach at Ventura.

It's been a full week so far. :)

Congratulations Totem and Mrs. Totem for 25 years!

Other things you can do while in San Diego.... And if you're on Coronado Island, enjoy the weather when the marine layer lets up. I love that area.

Marriott on Coronado Island is nice, but NOTHING beats the Hotel Del. If you guys are still here on Sunday, check out the Brunch in the Crown Room at the Del. Very pricey, but the food is so worth it.

Karoake at The Tickled Trout.... Seriously, gbaji? I'm sure they didn't come all this way to sing at the Ticled Trout. Besides, Hotel Circle is meh, unless Mrs. Totem wants to go do some shopping at Fashion Valley (stop by the Armani Exchange or Louis Vuitton or Tiffany) or Mission Valley.

For the "cultural outlook" go to Balboa Park by downtown, with lunch or dinner at the Prado. Nice museums and since it is Tuesday, some of the museums have discounts for their entry fees, or even free. The IMAX at the Reuben H. Fleet is fun too. If possible, take in a show at the Starlight Theater at Balboa park. The theater is dark until the 14th, when My Fair Lady opens.

Gaslamp Quarter, of course, for some nightlife and some shopping. Some of the clubs, I'm sure wouldn't be something you'd want to partake in their venues, but some of the smaller clubs have a lounge feel for a good drink and to just chill and people watch. I like the Eden Rooftop at the Ivy Hotel. You can even hire a trike to just take you around the streets and you can cuddle.

Belmont Park in San Diego in Mission Beach too. Walk the boardwalk or ride the Big Dipper. It's a place that you can't spend a whole lot of time at, maybe a couple of hours. But I usually go there and then head to Pacific Beach for some nightlife or dinner and drinks.

For Catalina Island, snorkeling and scuba diving, if you're certified, is the way to go. They do have parasailing, something I think you'd really enjoy. If you don't have hotel reservations yet, I like the Vista del Mar or the Avalon Hotel.

Enjoy! Have fun!

Eh. Was trying to point them in the direction of something they're unlikely to read off a tourist brochure. Don't know about Totem, but I get a little nuts doing nothing but tourist spots when traveling. Besides, most of the tourist stuff is closed down by 8 PM anyway. Exactly how many nights of four star restaurants in a row can you go to?

So what I'm hearing is that there is essentially nothing to do in San Diego.

I'd have to say about 700 in a 50 mile radius.

Sure, year 3 is a drag, but you learn to cope.

Hey. It's as "dive bar" as you can get without being in a dangerous part of town. Don't want the poor guy to get mugged or something... ;)
