Congratulations Totem and Mrs. Totem for 25 years!
Other things you can do while in San Diego.... And if you're on Coronado Island, enjoy the weather when the marine layer lets up. I love that area.
Marriott on Coronado Island is nice, but NOTHING beats the Hotel Del. If you guys are still here on Sunday, check out the Brunch in the Crown Room at the Del. Very pricey, but the food is so worth it.
Karoake at The Tickled Trout.... Seriously, gbaji? I'm sure they didn't come all this way to sing at the Ticled Trout. Besides, Hotel Circle is meh, unless Mrs. Totem wants to go do some shopping at Fashion Valley (stop by the Armani Exchange or Louis Vuitton or Tiffany) or Mission Valley.
For the "cultural outlook" go to Balboa Park by downtown, with lunch or dinner at the Prado. Nice museums and since it is Tuesday, some of the museums have discounts for their entry fees, or even free. The IMAX at the Reuben H. Fleet is fun too. If possible, take in a show at the Starlight Theater at Balboa park. The theater is dark until the 14th, when My Fair Lady opens.
Gaslamp Quarter, of course, for some nightlife and some shopping. Some of the clubs, I'm sure wouldn't be something you'd want to partake in their venues, but some of the smaller clubs have a lounge feel for a good drink and to just chill and people watch. I like the Eden Rooftop at the Ivy Hotel. You can even hire a trike to just take you around the streets and you can cuddle.
Belmont Park in San Diego in Mission Beach too. Walk the boardwalk or ride the Big Dipper. It's a place that you can't spend a whole lot of time at, maybe a couple of hours. But I usually go there and then head to Pacific Beach for some nightlife or dinner and drinks.
For Catalina Island, snorkeling and scuba diving, if you're certified, is the way to go. They do have parasailing, something I think you'd really enjoy. If you don't have hotel reservations yet, I like the Vista del Mar or the Avalon Hotel.
Enjoy! Have fun!
