Basically a break down of the tax changes that Obama and McCain would make. Interesting to note that Obama's change would affect much more of the population than McCain's, but I bet you all already knew that.

$702,000 is an awfully big pill to swallow. Mind you, you could always remind them how much more it would be to move North.

I love how under McCain, the absolute poorest of the poor get the least amount of tax breaks while the richest of the rich get almost a 5% tax cut. Smiley: rolleyes

That right there is enough to swing my vote to Obama, if it were to be swung, but it's not.

In theory, by giving tax breaks to the rich, you give them more money to reinvest into expansion of their businesses which in turn, leads to more jobs. Sounds good, doesn't it? So does a 100% socialist nation. Doesn't turn in to practice very well.

Actually it works in reality. The more money a business owner has to invest in his business the more jobs he creates. Whether it be employing the guy that builds his 100ft yacht or the guy building his new 4000sq ft mansion, or the extra employees he brings on to file his paperwork.

No, that's how corporate tax works, not how individual taxation actually works out. The more money a business has, the more it reinvests. The more a person has, the more he/she spends on frivolous ****.

Typically made overseas.

Those people making $500k will be saving a sweet twelve dollahs under Obama. I wonder which Value Meal they'll splurge on.

Yes, someone in Hong Kong.

Canada, Mexico, China and/or Japan usually. Also, see Germany and Italy.

Hey, I'm the first person to mention how much I hate unions, but if you actually treat your employees well, you'll never need to worry about them. Unions aren't at fault there, well, not anymore than overly stupid and greedy employers are.

And Democrats wonder why affluent US businessmen do this.

Of course this sort of behavior is self-perpetuating.

Not true. If you treat employees well they often take advantage of you. That's why you hire office managers to handle, be the d*ck to, the employees.

Which inspires them to unionize to get what they want.

Again, self-perpetuating.

It's a common fallacy that lower taxes on the wealthy boost the economy. There is no correlation between highest tax bracket and per capita GDP growth since the end of world war 2.

And as to the tax breaks, there should be none. We should pay as we go. Borrowing is just a tax increase on our children.

Maybe McCain is planning to invade China after Iran to get rid of the deficit.

Well if the unions and american liberals would allow us to produce those things we wouldn't have to go overseas to find them now would we?

Uh, I don't think you know how the system works here. We want cheap stuff, but also high wages.

I know you don't care, but most type 1 managers don't perform well outside of a factory environment.

I think it is immoral to treat employees badly. Even if it were more productive, which is certainly not the case for my situation, but could be true (at least in the short term) in other situations, I would not do it.

Ever.
