So what's your take on UFC 87? I really thought Fitch would put up a much better fight than he did. I thought his wrestling game would be able to at the very least, keep GSP at bay.

Now we go to the Lesnar/Herring fight. Now was Lesnar that good? Or did that opening shot really take the stuffing out of Herring? All in all I was fairly impressed with Lesnar's overall improvement in his all around game. I wonder how long before the fanboys will start chanting for Brock vs. Fedor.

Florian I wasn't surprised about in the least. I like Huerta but Florian just brought his A game and stuck with his game plan. There wasn't much Huerta could do.

McCrory needs to be pushed up to the next weight class. Period. His height is too much of an advantage.

Kongo, no shock there. I was very amused to see Gusmao fail horribly. Welcome to the Octagon there little buddy. Bruno losing as badly as he did surprised me. I didn't think he would lose that one at all. I'm not sold on Saunders at all. He's either going to be great or a total flash in the pan.

Edit. Wow, I thought I was in the Asylum when I posted this. Any admin want to move this to the correct forum please?

The fights were brilliant last night! GSP had so many chances to end it but Fitch really stood his ground! I'm very excited to see GSP fight BJ Penn. Two of my favorite fighters in an all out brawl. A UFC fan couldnt ask for more!

LOL Brill, nice one. I go to =10 and was like, what the shit?

Hands down best moment was Manny Gamburian getting his face handed to him in 12 seconds. O. M. G. lolol

I can't see Brock Lesnar winning against Fedor because he seemed to get Heath into locks and other positions where he could do things, but then he just sat there. Like when he first locked Herring into a guillotine, I thought with those freaking logs he calls arms that it was basically over. And then later when he's pretty much just sitting on him, he didn't really throw as many blow as I thought he could. There's no doubt he's good because he's strong, but it just seems like he has a ton to learn about MMA still. Like how to not knee someone in the spine over and over...

I was so sad to see Smiley: inloveHuertaSmiley: inlove lose to Ben Stiller. He was a great commentator when Joe couldn't make it but man I just can't stand him at all. Plus I don't really care for fighters that make their opponent chase.

I can't believe BJ just spawned in the Octagon. I got the impression GSP did not want to fight him, not because he's scared, but because he feels there are other people who deserve a shot at that title than BJ. I mean come on, you've got Lightweight. =\

I thought Maia looked good. I don't recall seeing him fight before, but he was pretty impressive imo.

Allow me to start by suggesting that you name your posts about the UFC or MMA appropriately so that people uninterested in the topic don't waste their time clicking on misnamed or ambiguously named topics and (hopefully/theorhetically) only people interested in the subject will click the link (though I'm certain trolls and people who don't like the sport will still find their way here for mindless rate-down'iing).

Fitch was just outclassed, as most everyone is by GSP, but he showed a lot of heart. Florien fought a very intelligent fight. And to answer your question about Lensar, no he isn't that good.

Lesnar/WWE fanboys please stop reading now.

Lesnar is almost unskilled at mma as you or I are. He is a freak a nature (and likely a product of chemical enhancement) with his combined size, strength, and speed, no doubt. But there are glaring weaknesses in his game. I know some of you are saying "of course therea are holes in his game, he's only fought three times", but Dana White is pretending he's one of the big boys, so he needs to prove himself to be skilled (and not just run over people cherry-picked to stack up poorly sylistically to inflate Lesnar's record and fanbase - thus making the heavyweight division in the UFC look like its worth anything and also putting more money in the coffers of Zuffa).

This match was created for two reasons:
1) Herring has some name recognition, and so a Lesnar win makes Lesnar look more legit.
2) Herring has poor takedown defense and worse ground game from the bottome; his fight with O'Brien proved this.
So White stacked the deck in Lensar's favor since he's trying to create a superstar. I'll not get into the fact that Dana had the fight in Minn., Lesnar's homestate, here.

Lesnar caught Herring with a solid shot that took Herring out of the fight right from the start. Before anyone says this proves Lesnar has a standup game, let me say that doing so for this reason is no more rational that saying Serra has a better game than GSP since he caught him with a shot. The first rule of mma is that "anybody can get caught with a shot".

The fact that Lesnar had Herring's back for pretty much the next fourteen minutes and couldn't either submit him, KO him, or get a ref stoppage shows that Lesnar really doesn't have any other tools other than his physical attributes and his impressive wrestling skillset. More telling still is the fact that fourteen minutes of lying on a downed oppenent with the occassional punch attempts or knees to an exposed back completely wiped his tank of gas. He was sucking wind pretty hard, showing that his cardio is ****-poor; and in a three round fight in which he will have to be more active, this will hurt him.

With his lack of skills in the complete sense of mixed martial arts, Fedor would destroy him (barring getting caught with a shot; remember rule number one). There is certainly room for improvement; but for now I don't want anyone telling me how great Lesnar is because he's stearm rolling peole Dana hadnpicks for him to beat.

On a side note - After his complete lack of respect for his opponent and total display of classlessness, I hope and pray the first submission expert he fights (though its unlikely White will put his new overhyped-creation against a submission expert after Mir showed him up) breaks his arm in two much like Silvia had his arm snapped. Mir didn't disrespect Lensar after he won, and he could have done so as a statement of "who is this Lensar guy to deserve to fight me?" if he wanted to.

I'll close by saying that BJP moving up to fight GSP, or even GSP moving up to fight Silva, both have me very excited. I mean this in no way as disrespect to BJP or his incredible talent, but I don't think he can take GSP right now. But that is certainly a fight I'd like to see.
