bernie mac dies, its on cnn every 10 minutes. edwards has an affair, its all over the headlines.

some olympic hopefulls, OUR KIDS, get knifed on the street on the first day of the olympics......a 30 second blip inbetween bernie macs life and edwards affair.

it was so fast i dont even know if anyone was killed, or how many were attacked. stinks of pressure to downplay it. stinks of politics.

Someone was stabbed by a crazy person. The person committed suicide after. How newsworthy is that verses a celebrity death or a former presidential/vice-presidential candidate's affair? Not much.

Is it right? Probably not. Is it censorship? No.

By the way, did you watch the Olympic opening ceremonies? There were at least a few occasions when the NBC broadcasters were openly critical, or at least aired particular events and stories that probably aren't considered too host country friendly or beneficial.

Edit: We're talking NBC. If anyone is considered prime candidate for censorship, it would be a company owned by GE.

The story is on the front page of CNN as I type this message, and to be blunt it's only new worth because it happened in China. Not to sound callous, but isn't there a war going on right now? How much coverage should be given to one death, two injuries and a suicide versus the deaths of how many Georgian citizens?

Seriously, details on CNN.com...it's on the front page....right now...everything, but the names of the victims...they'll even tell you what building he jumped from.

Oh yeah, my bad. He jumped. I read the story right after I woke up. Anyhow, it isn't like the person was important or anything. It was the relative of a coach. I wish I had my Daily Show history of America book so I could remember what their media formula was for making the news.
