Well, at least she wasn't in a disfiguring car accident causing him to **** a 20 year old until she divorced him.

On the other hand, the Charlie Crist glory hole stories are still in the chamber if it becomes too big of a deal.

The Democratic Party is cursed with an abundance of virile straight men who love to **** women. It's a cross we just have to bear. Sadly for us, the other party has a monopoly on the guys who hate sex with women. Alas.

To be fair, he wasn't running for President at the time, she wasn't dying of a terminal illness, and he'd also been through a physically and emotionally difficult period of time that left him physically scarred as well. And they were separated.

But other than that, you're right! It's exactly the same... ;)

Neither was Edwards.

she wasn't dying of a terminal illness

No, she was just maimed in a car accident so she wasn't as physically attractive.

and he'd also been through a physically and emotionally difficult period of time that left him physically scarred as well.

Yeah, that's widely known to cause 43 year old men to start cheating on their wives with 24 year olds.

And they were separated.

Hahaha, no they weren't, sucker. Where'd you find that one, Fox News, The Wall Street Journal, or McCain's Campaign. Hahaha. Separated. They divorced because he was ******* cindy-lou, genius, there was no other reason.

But other than that, you're right! It's exactly the same

Well, not exactly, Edwards didn't end up ******* someone young enough to be his daughter.

Be nice, Smash. These were obviously the sort of emotional and physical scars that leave you able to go balls deep into little blonde chippies behind your crippled wife's back but unable to file for a divorce first.

That's definitely true.

Here's the other part I don't understand. It's worse to cheat on your wife when you're a public figure, and divorce has massive career repercussions for you than it is when you're a private citizen and your only reason to lie is that your a fucking coward?

Just brushing up on my GOP honor system, here.

He says they were separated Joph. Carol McCain has never refuted that statement. The fact that they were living under the same roof doesn't tell us anything about their personal relationship at the time. It was pretty clear that they'd obviously been thinking about divorce quite some time before the actual paperwork was filed. At the time in question, they'd already come to an agreement with regards to their property. We can play semantic legal games with the word "separation", but it's reasonable to assume that they were not a happy married couple long before he met Cindy.

And Edwards' wife knew about his affair in 2006 and kept silent. Does that mean it never happened? I know you're desperate to pretend that McCain fucking behind his wife's back is way different than Edwards fucking behind his wife's back but it's not. Not even a little teeny bit. McCain's not some hero driven solely by honor and nobility -- he's a guy who, when his marriage got tough, decided that finding solace between some other girl's legs was a better idea than ending his marriage first. Just like a bajillion other men of varying ranks and social status.

Yeah, according to the article she was totally blindsided when he filed for divorce. This according to Reagan staffers and Edwin Meese's wife, before you go all "mainstreammediaconspiracy" on us.

Edited to add: I didn't realize this is his third marriage, or that his first marriage ended because of his infidelity. Guess Wife #2 should have seen it coming, really.

Navy officers in the squadron McCain commanded in 1977 said they did not know anything was wrong. "When I went to parties at their home, everything seemed fine," said Mike Akin, a naval flying instructor. "They seemed to be a happily married couple."

But two years later, while on a trip as a Navy liaison with the Senate, McCain spied Hensley at the Honolulu reception. In a recent television interview with Jay Leno on the "Tonight Show," Cindy McCain joked about how the Navy captain had pursued her. "He kind of chased me around . . . the hors d'oeuvre table," she said. "I was trying to get something to eat and I thought, 'This guy's kind of weird.' I was kind of trying to get away from him."

John McCain was 42; she was 24. During the next nine months, he would fly to Arizona or she would come to the Washington area, where McCain and Carol had a home.

Carol McCain later told friends, including Reynolds and Fitzwater, that she did not know he was seeing anyone else.
Real fucking classy. Nothing like bringing your girlfriend home to **** her behind your crippled wife's back while she has no idea what's going on.

Keep trying to defend McCain on this one, you sad partisan hack.

For the record, I think that both Edwards & Clinton also acted like warm shits. But at least no one is holding them up as paragons of honor and loyalty. I guess loyalty's only good until you see something that looks good in a skirt.

No. They weren't. Just reading the linked article McCain told several of his friends that Carol wasn't the same woman he married immediately after returning from Vietnam. Now. We can assume he was shallow and couldn't handle her physical injuries, or perhaps that she'd (or both of them) changed in personality over the 6 years he hadn't seen eachother. You have to remember that they were married for less than a year and a half before he became a POW, during which time he was in active military service. When he returned, they'd spent over 80% of their entire married lives with no communication at all. It's not surprising that they'd have become different people by then, doubly so given that both suffered some pretty serious traumas along the way.

In any case it's clear that he didn't feel the same things for her after returning from the war as he did before leaving.

Lol. Or they'd both realized they'd become different people, but maintained their marriage out of convenience both politically and for their kids, but when McCain met someone they agreed to a divorce.

I just find it hard to believe that it was really that much of a surprise to Carol...
