The New York Times wrote:
Senator Ted Stevens of Alaska, the longest-serving Republican senator in United States history and a figure of great influence in Washington as well as in his home state, has been indicted on federal corruption charges.

Mr. Stevens, 84, was indicted on seven counts of failing to report income. The charges are related to renovations on his home and to gifts he has received. They arise from an investigation that has been under way for more than a year, in connection with the senator’s relationship with a businessman who oversaw the home-remodeling project.
[...]
All the charges are felonies. Justice Department officials declined to discuss how long a prison term a conviction on the charges might bring, noting that the maximum sentences allowed by law are rarely imposed. Mr. Stevens was in Washington on Tuesday, and was allowed to turn himself in for paperwork processing.
Stevens was running for relection this year and is in a tight race with Anchorage mayor Mark Begich. Don't see that panning out for him. I'd expect him to drop out before spending money on the primary battle.

84? Jesus, he probably just wadded up the cash, stuffed it in his diaper, and forgot about it.

I dunno. He's of the "I pretend everything's great no matter what happens" breed of Republicans. Denial is their credo.

Tell me how's it going with Democrat William Jefferson?

The multimillionaire beloved by millions who gets paid $50,000 for a 20 minute speech? I think he's doing ok, really.

A congressman? Seriously, this is the best you can do? You know how you could tell he was a Democrat? He wasn't blowing a 12 year old boy when they raided his office.

Ahahahahahaha.

That would be Democrats Barney Frank and Mark Foley who happen to enjoy the company of little boys.

Frank is openly gay, and enjoys sex with other gay men. He fights for gay rights, etc. Foley preys on teenage boys and fights for anti-gay laws at every opportunity. Or he did, before he lost his seat.

Guess which one is the Republican.

Yeah. Big fear of the Democrats losing additional House seats this season.

It freaks me out that people actually believe that.

Not the writers, of course. They're just cynically manipulating gullible idiots. But the gullible idiots freak me out.

Well, I'm not sure I agree with their definitions of a "real" Republican, but here's a complete list of Foley's voting record and I see four where he deviated from the party line, so that's pretty friggin' Republican to me.

He deviated from the Republican position and voted "yes" to the Horse Protection Act. I think we all know his reason for that.

Smashed,

Didn't you know that gay republicans are not really republicans but liberal activists attempting to set their agenda by transforming the party that opposes their lifestyle?

I know, that's why any Democrats caught in corruption stings are clearly Republican activists infiltrating the party. Everyone knows REAL Democrats hate money.

Keep voting for guys who want to blow teenagers, though, we all know where you stand, man.

I'm beginning to worry about you. I can't remember the last time you've gone a day without making a homosexual reference.

Why? Are you fearful he'll suddenly get the urge to run for a Republican seat?

I love the gays. I just wish the Republican gays would have the balls to come out and just be gay, though, instead of working to pass anti-gay laws so they can say "Look! Look how not ***** I am!" Or marrying beards when they think they have a shot at the VP slot. Or marrying librarians and the like.

The number of closeted gay repubs married to librarians is just astounding.

Actually being a southern baptist I'm more concerned with his eternal soul than his prospects in the Democrat party.

You should be concerned about yours. You sin on a daily basis with no remorse. If you're going to adhere to some silly made up belief system, at least adhere to it.

He's already pledged his eternal soul to me, and I'm less forgiving than any God I've read about.
