Just getting myself used to saying that.

In the history of modern presidential elections, has there ever been a worse republican candidate?

Not that he ran, but Dan Quayle would have been. haha, oh Dan Quayle.

Which just goes to show how weak McCain is, since he can't pull away.

You know in sci-fi films, when the hero dies, and everyone is really sad, but then they manage to re-assemble his left-over body parts, and they mix those with bits of robots, and then he's like this talking-head on the body of a robot? A bit like a geriatric Robocop?

That's what McCain reminds me of everytime I see him on TV. I'm like "Damn, today's episode of Star Trek is seriously political. Oh wait, that's the republican candidate, my bad."

Our current President was dramatically less qualified. That's not a partisan comment, either, by any measure he was less qualified than Obama is.

Despite your love fest Obama will get no crossovers and he's not appealing to independents either. Obama has the most liberal voting record in congress and that's going to cost him.

He's winning them 3 to 1. Nothing's going to cost him, he gets a free pass because McCain is such a disaster as a candidate. If you guys had put forth someone other than a doddering old fool clinging to past glory, you might have had a shot at making this thing interesting. As it is, this election will be over at 9pm when the polls close on the east coast. Here's a vision of the future for you:

Fox News at 9pm: "We're now projecting that Barack Obama will win Virginia, Ohio, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Florida, all of the New England states, New York, Maryland, and New Jersey. For John McCain to get to 270 electoral votes, he now must win Illinois and California where he's polling 30 points down."

Remind me again what experience obama has governing?

He has none. Bush also had none. You clearly don't understand how powerless the Governor of Texas is in their system.

Obviously you don't understand US politics. 40% are going to vote democrat 40% are going to vote gop regardless of who's running.

I understand that. It's pretty much the same up here, but add in a 3rd or 4th group to lower those numbers. There's always the independent group that makes or breaks a government. Obama has no experience worth noting as far as you're concerned, yet Mccain can't sway that other 20%. How is he not a weak Rep represenitative if he can't sway the 20% to him, from the "inexperienced" Dem?

Obama hasn't voted with the gop on anything the time he's been in congress.

False.

They're afraid of being called racist by picking McCain in an anonymous poll?

Robo-polling has pretty much eliminated the Bradley Effect. Ever take a Rasmussen poll? The computerized voice on the other end of the phone doesn't judge.

Remains to be seen. I think we'd both agree it's more likely to occur in a sample set that includes larger numbers of conservative voters.

#23REDACTED, Posted: Jul 25 2008 at 8:12 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Liberals would do well to remember that swing voters are in essence independant voters. Although they may not keep up with election politics as much as some of us, they are not complete morons. They know McCain is an independant with a republican label. They know McCain has gone against his party for what he thinks is the betterment of the country. This is going to be a squeaky close race.

Name a couple major platforms where McCain's current campaign varies significantly from Bush.

The only thing that jumps to mind is ANWR and that's really just half credit since he's already flipped on off-shore drilling. Back on July 1, Gallup said that 68% of voters are very or somewhat concerned that McCain will be too much like Bush. And that "very" number was 49%. People aren't thinking of the 2000 McCain these days.
