Sorry about this countdown, but I'm pretty stoked about being sub-200# for the first time since 1997.

206.

I've noticed a distinct increase in the difficulty in losing more weight now. The necessary amount of exercise is ramping up just to stay on pace of 2 pounds a week. I may have to watch my diet even more closely now. I have been taking in anywhere around 1200-1700 calories a day, but might have to strictly hold to 1300-1400 calories now just to adjust for the fewer needed for basic living.

Went kayaking yesterday for something different though. I need to look for more alternative forms of exercise. What are you doing for cardio, knox?

Both my Mom and Dad were diagnosed with diabetes this year. That has put a fire under me to make some changes. I had been (half-assedly) working out but now I try to make it 3 times a week, with a couple mile walk every evening (pushing the double stroller and 65lbs worth of kids). I am eating much better and have cut down drinking to a couple of colds one the weekend. It may not prevent me from getting diabetes but maybe it'll slow my chances.

I've been using this site:

To track my weight loss, nutrition, and work outs. My wife joined it too and we're gym buddies so we keep each other motivated. We have a competition to see who can loose the most weight by the end of the year, haven't decided on a prize yet though.

I'm down 5 lbs so far Smiley: thumbsup

Thanks for the link. I've used SparkPeople, but I'll have to check out this one.

205.

My son and I went to the top of Half Dome on Tuesday. Today I'm nearly crippled, lol. My quads are so sore I shriek in agony from our 18 mile forced road march. 5,000+ feet in elevation gain, all mis-matched steps and broken rubble, topped off with a 60* pitched quarter mile slope to the top.

Hopefully, I'll be able to post some pictures.

Nope, but I am keeping it off and still losing weight slowly-- apparently the best way to maintain weight loss.

Half Dome kicked my a$$. I'm walking like I'm 100 years old today. Incredibly sore.

Since the first of August, I've lost 6.5 Kg... I am now the proud owner of a 116 Kg body.

Nothing too drastic, I just cut down on the sugar intake (Pepsi Max instead of regular Pepsi), some of the junk food, and got used to smaller portions for lunch and dinner. Fried stuff is a rarity now, and sweets are a fond memory.

I keep promising myself that I'll hit the gym soon, but somehow I manage to take every opportunity to procrastinate (the latest is the excellent excuse that I don't have good running shoes and the store doesn't have my brand/model/size at the moment Smiley: banghead)

I'm pretty sure we outlawed the metric system here. Are you just trying to be obstinate?

Totem, you are 205# and eat 1200-1700 calories per day? And you want to lower this amount to 1300-1400? Do you know what this kind of intake does to your body?

Anyhow...my stats are 197# 6' and I wear 33" jeans.

Workouts consisting of full body workouts and cardio 3 times per week with approximately 2500 calories ingested per day for losing 1 pound per week.

Yep, my doc has me on a particular diet (Medifast) that has a nutritionally balanced setup. However, as I close in on my goal, I have been cheating somewhat and haven't been as careful to not snack on alternate stuff my wife is munching on, thus slowing down my progress.

I gained a tremendous amount of muscle mass while losing visceral and subcutaneous fat. I am a true 34 inch waistline now (no muffin top in other words), but think I can still go down to a 33, possibly a 32 if I really worked at it.

Since I work a 7 day on/7 day off 12 hour schedule that rotates between days and nights every other week, consistant cardio and weight training is difficult to maintain, especially since I drive an hour each way. However, I still bike or walk the neighborhood with Mrs. Totem when I get home, which, although doesn't get my heartrate up, still is good for keeping my limbs limber.

204#. Ever closer to my goal. Frankly I was surprised I lost anything this past week considering I was working days and ended up tacking on 2-3 hours on the end of each shift, what with all the accidents that came right at the rotational hour. Can't get much exercise in when you spend 15-16 hours either at work or driving to and from the house.

I hit the scales at 225 Smiley: frown so says the Army

That supprised me b/c I changed my diet. I also go to cardio class, kung fu and Tae Kwon Do (all in the same martial arts school)

So I must've been worse off which, by default, means I've lost wieght. I just don't know how much.

In April of this year I was at 188/189, wife was 138'ish.

Her doctor suggested trying the Atkins diet after exercising & somewhat conscious food habits were not dropping the weight.

(blah blah blah, die of a heart attack at 30 ...)

Since then I am down to 157 and she is hovering around 118, all just by cutting out sugar and processed flour.

It's crazy but it works.

We are both 5'6" tall so neither of those prior weights were flattering to say the least.

255lbs earlier this week. That puts me at about 15-18lbs over my ideal weight. As a percentage, I'm fine with that. I'd like to be back to 235-240 because I was in excellent physical shape when I was, but, I'm too lazy and 2 kids eat up any extra energy I can muster.
