Is there truly a need for white trash in this world?

Is selective breeding the answer?

Perhaps a minimal level of education should be required in order to maintain the right to live on this planet?

This is why the space elevators are so important; so, we can send ALL our trash out into the cosmos.

I hate the phrase white trash.

Here's my problem with the phrase. It basically refers to poor white people. And by extension, implies that whites should not be poor - tacitly stating that poverty in non-whites is somehow acceptable or the natural state.

Oh, but you may say that white trash are white people who are just behaving like idiots. Funny, I never hear George W. Bush referred to as white trash. But let's just set that aside and pretend it does mean uneducated whites. Again, it implies tacitly that non-whites who are uneducated are just fine, but an uneducated white is a waste. I just can't get behind that line of thinking.

I prefer the phrase "stupid people". Baring that, here in America we call them "Republicans". In polite company, "conservatives".

I look at it more as a specification. Trash of the white variety has its own distinct culture.

I disagree. You can be white and poor, but not trash. Heck, you can even have dignity and pride. I was simply referring to the pond scum that lives on the fringes of rural Virginia.

I'm poor white trash (or, reformed white trash if you wish), and I will damn well use the phrase if I want to.

Straight up.

Unfortunately parts of this country is still very intolerant or ignorant *cough* deep south *cough* of anyone who is not like them. Not saying the EVERYONE there is like that, but saying the mentality is still there in many parts of the nation. Until ignorance and intolerance goes away, terms like "white trash" will still be used.

Actually being from Alabama and being a whitey that can tan enough to put a black man to shame I've experianced racism many times. (Didn't get to move into a neighborhood because the landlord said that they didn't "take to kindly to Mexicans 'round 'ere.)" To be honest the worst racism I've actually ever came across has been up north.

As far as the names like "white trash" I have but one thing to say, "Sticks and stones..." (thinking about getting that copyrighted Smiley: lol)I'd be more worried about what someone could do than rather than what someone could say.

One of my college girlfriends and I used to have "white trash day" every couple of months in which we wouldn't bathe, would feast on frozen salsbury steaks or frozen lasagna whilst drinking either MGD in a can or box o' wine. We would spend most of the day sitting on the porch chain smoking and playing rummy.

Ahh, pre-kid days.

Once, we had corn dogs. I'm not sure what I was expecting, but I wasn't expecting them to be so...sweet, I guess. They were weird. I didn't know how one was supposed to eat a breaded hot dog on a stick, so I just got a little cup of ketchup and dipped it and ate it. It wasn't offensive or anything, but I think it was too far down the rabbit hole. I haven't had one since.

Oh, and I think this should be required reading in parenting classes.

I can only find frozen corn dogs here.

I wonder if I could make my own corn dogs, using red hotdogs.

....if you squirt a thin line of Frenches bright yellow mustard along the length of the corn dog (we actually call them pronto-pups) the rabbit-hole seems less deep and much more inviting.

Sure - that is another possible permutation. I still don't like it since rich folks who have at least had the opportunity to be educated yet still act like idiots are somehow not "trash"?

Paris Hilton versus the mythic Joe Trailer Park. I would not refer to either as trash, meaning devoid of worth, but forced to choose one I'd go for Paris, every time.

Paris Hilton gets called "trashy." Same level of insult, but its connotation applies better.

Of course, now you can argue why women are called "trashy" but men aren't. There's other words used for comparable males.

...I didn't realize there was something other than frozen corn dogs. You mean, like, you can get "freshly breaded hot dogs" at bakeries somewhere or something?

Back during the summers of high school we'd hang out on the beach for days. I can still remember how I'd feel after a 4 day party and no showers in between. Lots of surf, sex, and sand good times.

You know, I'll try anything once, but sex on a beach is so not what I imagined. The chaffing, jesus. To each their own I guess.
