As resident Baby Maker and Coffee Queen, I've been meaning to ask you something. If I were to use the baby bottle brush to scrub out my coffee cups, would that possibly transfer coffee residue and caffeine to the baby bottles? I'm only asking because the wife brought it up when I realized that the bottle brush is perfect for my tall travel coffee mugs.

I am not DSD, nor do I know for sure the answer. However if it were me, to be on the safe side, I would just buy a separate one for your travel mugs.

How much caffeine do you honestly think is going to stick to a thoroughly cleaned brush?

And if caffeine sticks that stubbornly to your brush, why would it come off on the baby bottle?

Yeah, you're right, he probably gets a lot more from sticking his hand in my mouth after I've had my morning cup.

Side note: this afternoon he punched mommy in the eye!

Technically you should be using a separate bottle brush for those bottles but I'm sure if you wash the bottles on a hot rinse in the dishwasher, they'l lbe adequately germ free.

What do you tell a girl with two black eyes?

Nothing, you've already told her twice.

The brushes are not that expensive so if you're really worried, go grab a couple extra and mark them. But like others said, if a tiny residue of coffee is transferred, that's probably the least of your worries considering what kids put in their mouths all day long.

Another thought is that dishwashers do a great job too Smiley: tongue

Side topic, Ashe has been hounding me for my coffee cup lately. Anytime it's empty and I put it down he rushes for it like some long lost treasure and carries it around. And he's been hounding me for a sip. Thinking to myself, if I let him have a small sip he will hate it and I'll be done with this coffee harassment.....

The kid has my genes. I made the situation even worse as he now keeps trying to get my non empty cups. lil ******* Smiley: glare

yes there is. Wait till your toddler throws a fit and bites your inner thigh. By far worse than a tit bite.

He's bitten the back of my thigh, that really soft skin just below to butt. Quite a surprise to just be standing there having a conversation with your husband and then ::CHOMP::

We had a couple months where he would just come up and bite at random, and I actually think (though I didn't realize this at the time) that this was the earliest incarnation of his trying to give kisses. He just hadn't figured out there were no teeth involved in kissing. For a while, he would just walk up and try to bite a toe or knee or arm, and we had some pretty traumatic incidents when he had to get a time out in the play pen in the other room for two minutes before he got the "no biting" message.

The reason I now think he was actually trying to give kisses is because now, he will walk up and give kisses the same way he used to walk up and bite. Which, of course, makes me feel really bad about the time outs, because I can just imagine his confusion if he was, in fact, trying to be affectionate, and was getting yelled at and disciplined for it. Luckily it doesn't seem to have stunted his inclination to be affectionate, because he gives lots of kisses and hugs lately.

Ashe does the same with kisses. He's just learning now that kisses do not require open mouths and teeth pushed into the skin. Although he still does this when he kisses my head (ouch).

Tristan does the open-mouth thing and has, in fact, recently added licking to the process. I am looking forward to him getting over that part of things, because sometimes it's really hard to smile and say, "aww, thanks for the kisses, momma loves the kisses!" while wiping slime off your face.

I'll be training ours to do that, but to mummy only. I'll teach them to not like the whiskers.

Kids seem to do this automatically. Ashe will kiss me nonstop, and his older brother, but he wont kiss Sickabilly because, we think, of the whiskers.

I brought this up, mommy said flat out "no" so I guess I'll get another bottle brush!

tell Mommy that caffeine has the opposite effect on infants and toddlers. A little bit of caffeine makes them sleepy rather than hyper. You may get a different response Smiley: sly

The all natural teething tablets I used for both kids had a trace amount of caffeine in them. They tended to conk right out after having a couple, as the pain receded.
