I play baseball on Mondays. I do swimming or racquetball on Tuesdays. I play basketball on Wednesdays. I hang out with friends on the weekends, barbecues, camping, dancing, movies, concerts, bowling, etc. I have a full time job that I love. My name is MentalFrog and I play MMOs.
This is pretty standard in my guild. Families, friends, jobs, etc.
MMOs really aren't that different than gambling. Some people can do it professionally. Some people let it consume their lives. Some people do it for recreation off and on. It's all in how you manage your time. Yes it can be a waste of time. But it can also be a great cheap form of entertainment.
It's hypocritical that a high school drop out thinks that him telling us what he finds entertaining is better than what we find entertaining. Basketball isn't for everyone. I love playing it but thinking less of those who don't enjoy would be stupid on my part. Do I play to have fun? Absolutely. Do I play to win? Absolutely. I'm serious when I play. All the sports I play are on team leagues. We have practices, plays, coaches, etc. It's not the average p.u.g. street sports that most people do at a local park or rec center (although I do occasionally play in those too). I love playing sports but I hate watching them.
Telling us to get off the computer is not helping us, fÏ…ckslap. Computer games can be a great stress reliever, a nice way to unwind from our daily lives. Tell me how much time have you spent watching sports on tv? That's all a waste of time because it's not a physical activity.
The whole fast food thing is a stupid joke too. People go for fast food as a convenience. It has nothing to do with playing games.
