I submit that no game will ever come close to the experience of playing EQ for the first time. No power levelers, no maps, and no idea what we were doing. It was glorious. Sadly, it was also not going to last. Every game since has been a pale imitation of the real thing.

And get off my yard!

The only way to generate that much dynamic content is to go to user generated content (with some kind of feedback rating system).

It's totally possible with current technology.

Just bide your time until WarHammer comes out. I really think that will be the "NEW" thing.

Why?

I've read virtually nothing positive about the game other than the public quests. Certainly nothing to suggest it's going to be the "NEW" thing any more than Conan. Honestly, I don't think we'll see a really intriguing new game until Blizzard puts out its next title, which is presumptively a Starcraft MMO. Or maybe the rumored Bioware KOTOR MMO.

dont see warhammer making it big. no pvp orientated games do. pvp works best as additional content, not the main focus. Planetside is the best pvp game ever created IMO, and look how far it went.

i would be even happier if SOE sold EQ1 to Blizzard...........

Hello, Dark Age of Camelot ring any bells? I never understood the use of a game like EQ with no PVP. What's the point if you aren't competing to be the top dog?

They're also available for PC. Hell, I've got a copy of GTA: San Andreas for PC (but no working crack)

I'm in the same boat. WOW has my interest again at least for a short while with arena season 4... but I'm sure that won't last long.

Plus, I have way less time to play games now!

I might start playing EVE more again. I never really burned out on it, I just put it down to try out AOC, etc.

I heard they're coming out with an MMO version of Oblivion. Not sure if it's true, haven't bothered checking.

I personally am of the opinion that MMO's need to evolve before they'll become interesting again. The same ol **** rehashed in slightly different variations isn't doing it for me.

because most people are board to tears and want something to do. video games are cheap compared to most other sports. cheaper than going to a bar or club too and you dont smell like an ash trey after your done. most of the time the women look better too........

its summer, i have the day off with my kids. i could go to the zoo at 16 bucks a head. go boating for 60 to 100 dollars in gas. head out to dave and busters for 20 bucks a head. take the trip to the local water park for 25 bucks a head.

you cant really do anything any more without spending a ton of cash. even a movie isnt cheap.

that leaves a whole lot of people with nothing they can afford to do. i cant let my kids go to the park by themselves anymore. they cant ride a bike up and down the street any more. its a differant world we live in now. video games, even the "m" rated ones are still relatively safe and cheap compared to other types of entertainment.

were board and dont want to spend alot of money. thats why.

If only they'd come up with a grammar and spelling MMO...

World of Writecraft? Age of Comma? Wargrammar? You could even play a spellcaster...

I apologise. It's been a long day.

Clearly your idea of recreation and mine differ. When I'm not around the office the last place I want to be is in front of a computer. Your children watch what you do. They can see a parent who enjoys sitting in front of a computer playing games or they can see a parent who's out in the real world enjoying life.

Yes, I bet your daughter loves to watch you in the real world.

Maybe when she's 22 she can date a creepy 45 year old racist insurance salesman too!
