As mentioned in another thread that you may or may not be reading...any takers on a non-fiction book club...slow pace, one book a month? The books mentioned to begin are all about sex, which I would think would hold this groups attention fairly well, but other suggestions could be thrown in after the first three are completed?

So far, we have "She Comes First", "He Comes Next" and then a cookbook, "Fork Me, Spoon Me" (it would be really fun to sign up for specific recipes to review when we got to that one).

Any takers?

I would imagine so. Libraries usually have TONS of books.

Actually, I use Borders or Barnes and Noble as my library. I just read in the cafe whilst enjoying my coffee.

Count me in for any of the above. I'm pretty neutral as to the exact choice, so I'll let others vote for that.

Ok, even if it's just me an Yo-Yo, I'm going with it. We read "She Comes First" by August 1st. Discussion to follow shortly thereafter. Probably more like on the 2nd or 3rd, since that would be the weekend. I don't see used paperbacks for sale on Amazon, which seems odd, but there are used hardcovers if you want to go that route.

Anyone who wants to can join in.

I just started reading Bobos in Paradise last night. So, I'll be happy to review it. I have gone into book clubs with good intentions in the past only to miserable phail at keeping up.

The last was the most successful as we didn't have any required reading. We just got together every other week and talked about what we were reading. It was kinda interesting.

DF, if a public library doesn't have a particular book you want, they'll usually find it for you.

I've recently been using Amazon's used book service. I Can usually find what I want in good condition for around $3-$4, including shipping (as long as I'm not looking for something fresh off the press).

Lol, I just went and looked at Nexa's book. It looks WAY funner than the one I just started.

Too bad the OoT can't talk about sex.

edit: Ok, just caught up with the other thread. I thought you were talking about cook books. that could be good too.

Yeah, I had a giggle at one of the "related books" graphics with the "search inside" arrow...here.

Oh, and evidently, the paperback of She Comes First isn't out until April of 2009...so grab a used hardcover or read it in the store (like I will...I always raise eyebrows in the Borders Cafe). I was reading Loose Girl when I was last there. Still need to finish that one.

If I read "He Comes Next" in the cafe, I'm going to eat a banana while I do it.

But then you would completely alienate the lesbian demographic. Think of the ratings hit! Your sponsors would be pretty pissed.

We could start it in October, in time for my philosophy of mind class. At my current rate of 10 pages a day I'll have finished it by then. :)

I actually downloaded a pdf of She Comes First ages ago and read some of it (after reading through an ancient thread where bhodi recommended it), so I could. I think it would drive me slowly insane if I started again right now though. =/

Read it in the Border's Cafe and if you see any cute chicks looking inquisitive, say hello.

How is the dialogue going to go?

Talk about part II chapter 25 "Establishing Rhythym?", frankly I don't want to hear some of you go in detail about your technique for giving a chick head, or the girls in receiving it. I know we have all be posting together for 4-6+ years now but there is some **** that I don't need to know. Also the book is a general guide, not a rule book. What one girl will enjoy is going to turn another girl off and you kind just figure that out as you go along and hopefully you have a catalog of sexual moves that is a little more diverse than rub this, twist that and hope for the best.

Bull; I've had the paperback version of "She Comes First" for years. I must have gotten it... at least 2-3 years ago? It's an interesting read. I think what it is best for is getting a man into the mindset of pleasing a woman, and that sexual fun is NOT sex. Actually, the author starts the book off with "Confessions of a Premature Ejaculator," where he explains that his initial "research" into the topic was because he was really bad at sex. It was only after he really started to delve deep into the world of "cunning linguism" that he realized "foreplay" should be "coreplay."

The book is nice in that it has various diagrams and it will actually allow you to accurately label all the parts of a ******. And once you know the areas, then you can focus on different parts. Now, the problem with the book (and really, any book on sexual activity that I have found) is that every person is different. The author of "She Comes First" gives various techniques to help your lady reach ******, but they may or may not work; if your woman is uncomfortable with "down there" in the first place, no amount of oral sex will get her off.

Despite this inherent limitation, yes, read the book! You'll learn a lot about anatomy, and if you really don't know much about cunnilingus, it will give you a great starting guide. Just don't take it as scripture; the most important part of any sexual activity where you want to please your partner is being able to effectively communicate/read their mood. Nothing gets older than asking every 30 seconds "Is this good?"

Edit: There were some other interesting ideas, such as oral sex while a woman is menstruating, or the "virgin kiss." But again, the best part of the book is getting someone to FOCUS, not on sex, but on his/her partner. Go figure: to be good at oral sex, you need to have your head in the right place!

The Ian Kenrer book sounded interesting, so I downloaded it the other night. It's a very quick read--I'm already 50 pages into it (total page are 115). I should be good to go by August 1st for sure :-)

...Now to read the rest

Tried to find "She Comes First" in 3 of the local bookstores and the Virgin Megastore. None of them have it.
It's a shame, I already give good head (or so the neighbors think) but I'm always interested in new techniques to please the wife. In case I find it, I'll give you the wife's impression as well Smiley: grin

Are there any official online book stores that sell you scans of the books? Shipment to Lebanon is not always available and the customs tax here is often more than the item's worth, so buying an electronic version is my best option.
