It's the first week of summer, officially...what's new with you?

That good eh? I feel the same way.

It's gloomy here, though I guess the clouds are supposed to burn off later and it will warm up. Maybe I'll plant some flowers when I get home. I planted some hostas yesterday, but I have this crazy "seed mat" thing that I've been meaning to cut into some shapes to plant around some of my trees in the front yard (places that I had raked piles of leaves and then left...killing off the grass in spots. Nevermind, it will look intended).

We had a software upgrade last week, making pieces of my job impossible on Thursday and Friday, so I have some catching up to do today. However, I've discovered I don't feel like it...what with my job being so far below "inspiring" that I don't believe a word has yet been invented to describe it. If I didn't like my coworkers, I think I'd have taken up something more intellectually stimulating, like working in the fast food industry.

What's that? Oh, what did I do this weekend? Thanks for asking, it wasn't actually that bad. Saturday involved moving some of my ex husbands stuff into the guest room where he'll be taking up residence after over a month of being unemployed and losing his apartment at the end of the month. It's ok since he won't be staying long, what with basic training coming up and all that. Soon I'll be so busy trying to figure out how to contend with 10 weeks of Hannah saying she wants daddy that I'll hopefully be distracted from the fact that I can't, for the first time in my life, seem to get a ******* job interview anywhere.

Hope things are just peachy for everyone else!

I figure you buy a mannequin and play the audio from Benny Hill episodes in a tape recorder hidden in it's body cavity. She'll never catch on!

Sounds like good times, Nexa.

Monday is not necessarily bad here, just nothing new to report.

I want to go buy new books, but I better not.

Go to a used book store. I like going to goodwill...hardcovers range from 1.99-2.99 and paperbacks are between .50 and a dollar.

I wish I could just live in a used book store and never speak to another person ever again. I want to be the guy in that twilight zone episode, but without the ****** glasses breaking thing. That was the meanest ever.

I'm having the same problem. Granted, there aren't a ton of jobs available around here now, but the few I've tried for, I've not heard crap about.

Yeah, I found a great one near here that has a good selection of kids books too. Does Hannah like the Scholastic First Discovery books? Mia is in LOVE with those. She digs the acetate pages that show the innards of humans, snails or boats! Yay!

I'll have to check those out, Hannah would love those. Right at the moment, she's into anything about heavy machinery...like trucks, tractors, fork lifts, dumptrucks, trains, etc.

Both my coffee pot and my electric griddle died on me this weekend. For no discernalbe reason. Probably planned obsolescence. No pancakes 4JOO Saturday morn!

I've replaced the coffee pot with a no frills one-button Proctor-Silex (Reny's ftw!).

I'd try popsicle substitute for those times Hannah wants her dad.

Ugh I've got to do some sprucing up around here today. My mother is coming to visit for a week and I pick her up at the airport tomorrow evening. So I'm bribing Zavi with cold hard cash to help me out. I'm still contending with a head cold but my eyes have stopped watering 24/7 so I'm telling myself it's almost over.

Mostly this week will be "laying low" which equals driving the kids + my mother around the area finding things to do while it's 90+ out, listening to my boys asking for everything under the sun, me saying no and my mom undercutting my rules and promising them the sun and stars.... good times Smiley: mad

I kinda miss having a Reny's around...I grew up with Reny's.

Oh, they have a book about just about everything I think. Try and get the older copies of the books though, because I think the new versions don't have the acetate pages. That's the fun part!

I feel your pain. Taking Hannah anywhere involves subjecting her to people who will not say no to her, whether she's requesting that they stand on their head in a stream of lava or just give her $100 and a pint of blood. The temper tantrums that I get to deal with the next day are always the funnest. I can hear her little brain screeching "what do you mean no! Noone says no to me! NO ONE!!!!"...I'd get her a scepter, but she'd just hit me with it.

yup sounds about right. I think the worst is though, that I've told my mom to knock it off for about 6 years now. She smiles and nods, and agrees completely that a little spoiling is ok but her massive spending sprees are not a good idea, and turns aroud and does t again. I swear she does it just knowing when she goes home I've got to deal with the now overly spoiled kids and she doesnt.

I cant wait to do that to my children when they have kids.

Since you ask so kindly, I'm having a slightly ****** time this week.

Bad: My girlfriend is really unhappy at work cos some bitCh is constantly putting her down. My mum spent the week-end in A&E because she's been having panic attacks and been fainting 3 times in an hour. I've had crap loads of work for the last 2 weeks that I was meant to finish today, and didn't quite do it. So now my boss is grumpy too. I played like Shit at football on Saturday. France sucked at the Euro. It's Monday. I haven't been in the sun for what feels like a year.

And I don't like posting when I'm a bit down, since the role of grumpy whiner is already kinda over-subscribed on these boards.

Good: On the plus side, though, the NHS have been amazingly good with my mum. Kudos to them. And England didn't even make it to the Euro, so that kinda cheers me up a bit. And seeing Obama having a 13 point lead in a poll, eventhough it might be a load of crap.

Have your mom yell at your girlfriend's coworker. They'll all be better off for it.

My mum has the strongest French accent in the land. When she gets angry, it's even worse. It's like Inspector Clouseau on helium. "Noooo, wooat iz zis, zis iz not poossiboule, yoo arrr a verrree meen laidee, yoo no?!"

I'm sure the co-worker would find it highly amusing, though.

Not if you give her reason to believe ahead of time that the approaching French woman is a homicidal maniac.

The only way this could work is if someone in Hollywood makes a movie about a posh, manicured, frail 60-year old French lady, who goes on killing sprees inside UN buildings with her, erm, venom-filled handbags and lazer-shooting earings.

Could work. I've seen sillier stuff.

Like Rambo IV.

I kid, I kid.

I've never seen Rambo IV.

Was feeling quite ill on Friday evening and was still dealing with the effects of it on Saturday. It didn't help things that I had a bachelorette party at a hot springs day spa on Saturday so the heat just made me feel sicker. Then Saturday evening, I got to deal with the husband learning about the effects of Vicodin and Valium on an empty stomach and a heatwave. Suffice it to say, I think he learned his lesson. The remaining pills have been flushed down the toilet, and I'm waiting for him to not feel as bad so I can finally express how angry and pissed off I have been in the last week.

So approaching Monday with the idea that it is a new day and a new week and we can only go forward.

Mrs Yoyo and I got sick of not being able to see into the living room from the kitchen and cut a giant hole through the drywall. Finishing it will have to be next week after I get back from a business trip (grumble).
