Not condemning Microsoft and any product of theirs, automatically makes you a fanboi. Apparently.

*****, please. There was a dcom exploit open in FF for YEARS. Not to mention the massive memory leaks that were literally ignored by developers. Firefox was seen as more secure because it had less market share, period. Including noscript as part of FF is like judging IE with security settings set to high and JS disabled.

Is this fixed in FF3? I really doubt that a single FF2 window without any tabs should be taking up 200+ mb.

FF3 is overall better then IE

there are the bench marks. for the most part ALL browsers tested were better then IE.

FF (linux)
FF windows
Opera (linux)
Opera windows
Safari windows
IE7

so yes, FF3 is considerably better at rendering and doing its job as a browser BETTER then IE.

False.

False.

I'm shocked, shocked, I say that Linux.com limited it's tests to synthetic benchmarks instead of real world sites.

The reality is that IE7 is very likely the better browser for most people using windows.

instead of spouting crap like always smash, find a better set of proof or tests proving your point. i have backed my point up with multiple tests run on multiple browsers on multiple OSs. you can either shut up or put up.

You, on the other hand, can lick my balls. I think, perhaps, you overestimate my interest in convincing a Karate instructor what the best web browser is for casual home users.

It's right up there with convincing infants that the gold standard was a bad idea.

This is nice, it's using up much less memory than FF2.

And I can finally middle-click on the bookmark list! Yay!!

The main reason that I use Firefox on Windows is the plugin set I use for web development.. plus, to maintain the same environment I do on my Linux computer.

Firebug, Webdev.. so good.

also the tabs instead of opening a new window, which is probably where alot of memory is saved, takes some getting used too.

Were you aware of Firefox prior to reading this thread?

yes. tried f2, thought it was a POS and went back to IE.

Well then you would have known that the tabs were there before FF3, and that you can change the options to open pages in new windows rather than in tabs. And that the memory fixes aren't due to the presence of tabs since they existed before.

But then, you're stupid, so why did I even bring it up in the first place?

Well due to all the addons available it really does have a lot more features. I think mouse gestures are my favorite addon atm.

you can modify F3 to your hearts content. it has that over IE. but most people dont really care what their browser does, or how it does it either. all they care about is if it works or it doesnt.

F3 works, but not really any better than IE which is already loaded with wondows. it doesnt have any more features, and other than the add blocking, it doesnt do them any better than IE.

infact, it doesnt to what most of us want it to do any better than netscape either.

its just differant. and you reply because you like red cars better than blue cars and anyone who doesnt is some kind of idiot because you have created perfection in your own immage.

You can still get an old version of Netscape but they are no longer making that browser.

Actually, I don't care what browser you or anyone else uses.

You are however, stupid. Very stupid - and in every discipline of life, to boot.

I think this is the first time I've addressed you, and I believe it will be the last.

Huh. I never could.

I just love FireFox because I have a blast playing with add-ons. Currently using a weather bar and mouse gestures. And FireFTP.

Works great, but I just hope that they aren't going to start forcing updates for this thing like every three hours like the previous versions.

Which version was this, exactly? Unless my FF2 updates silently somehow, I downloaded updates maybe once a week at most. Even then, you aren't forced to update immediately, you're given the option to wait until you restart Firefox on your own.

Of course, if you have several dozen addons, they might have to update on their own. I use Noscript and Adblock, and I'm content with that.
