I'm generally resistant to change...but I like it.

It's definitely faster.

It is faster. I have no idea why they made the "back" browser button so huge, though. Were people missing it?

Really?

Do you need firefox 1 or 2?

I've lately been having loads of trouble with IE on my home rig and think I'll be switching to firefox...but I'm scared.

I don't use IE unless it's absolutely necessary...like for certain work items. You'll like firefox, it's better.

Just go here. They'll take care of you.

no you do not need FF1 or 2. just grab FF3, install it and set it as your default browser.

FYI as for the back button being so large, right click on the tool bar area (the top area near the back/forward/stop etc... buttons) and hit customize. from there you can change a few things around and even replace that big back button with a smaller one, or just set it to use small icon instead of the larger one.

I only dislike it because it reminds me of Vista, which I irrationally hate.

Elinda: be sure to download the Noscript addon for Firefox. Keeps those popups down unless you choose to allow them.

I heart Adblock Plus.

Yeah, Adblock also rules.

I also use the Google toolbar.

No themes, though, at least not yet.

the 2 MUST have addons that set FF above all other browsers are:

NoScript

Adblock Plus

those 2 alone make FF the best web browser in the market today.

even most of the security vulnerabilities of FF can be mitigated by using those 2 addons.

Gnome 2 human interface design standards. Linux running Gnome default looks more and more like it was designed by Fischer Price every day.

Anyhow, someone behind me just said they posted about a rather big security flaw letting someone take over the PC with a booby-trapped link or some such.

yes that was found 5 hours after FF3 went live, but the combination of noscript and adblock+ will protect you from those sites until the mozilla team gets it fixed.

Liking the new FF, not liking the default theme for a Mac. But for some reason, every theme I download makes my scroll bars go away. Yeah, I know I can use my mouse wheel (and I do), but sometimes you just need to get to the bottom of a page quickly, and I can't scroll that fast.

end or page down will do that for you. odd that the themes make your scroll bar go poof. the MAC default is meh, but ill muddle with that later. just happy with the performance but i do miss my 'all-in-one gestures' i want my mouse controls back.

It's nifty so far.

I was going to post that my only annoyance was that the developer of the "Dictionary Tooltip" add-on hadn't updated it yet. But then I saw he just updated it today. I can finally surf in comfort.

I wasn't saying it was faster than IE. FUCk IE, I don't care.

I was saying it was faster than Firefox used to be.

yeah can not speak on how it compares to IE as i have not used IE in over a year maybe even longer. at least on computers that i own.

FF3 > FF2 in performance.

so, your saying that until now you were using a browser that was slower than the one that came with windows and now your thrilled to death because you have one that is as fast as the one that came with windows?

personally, i dont particularly like the way microsoft tries to make everything perpriatary. but i wouldnt go out of my way to get something different unless it is actually BETTER.

FireFox is actually BETTER than Internet Explorer. It has been faster, more streamlined, easier to browse with, and more secure since its creation.

Firefox 3 is noticeably quicker than the previous incarnations of itself. Internet Explorer is one of the worst browsers on the market to use nowadays.

i would not say worst, i would say most insecure and most prone to causing security risks to your windows computer.

yes FF has been better since FireBird first came out (that was the name before it became firefox) just for the addons alone.

Try to picture your reaction if IE had a massive, easily exploitable vulnerability that could only be remedied by installing not one, but two, third party plug ins.

As Firefox gains market share, it's no more secure than IE. Deal with it, it's not a religion.

dont have to install BOTH, either one will work to protect your system. again as stated above MOST security vulnerabilities found in FF can be mitigated by either adblock or noscript and as most people i know that run FF run BOTH of those it is a non-point of security.

also comparing security fix response time of IE v FF and hands down FF wins that. most security issues with FF are fixed in hours or days and at worst a week or so yet IE will take months if not YEARS to fix security issues.

*****, please. There was a dcom exploit open in FF for YEARS. Not to mention the massive memory leaks that were literally ignored by developers. Firefox was seen as more secure because it had less market share, period. Including noscript as part of FF is like judging IE with security settings set to high and JS disabled.

Stop being a moron. I use FF because it's better for me, I don't need to pretend it's magically better than IE in every way. It's not. It won't ever be.
