I wouldn't mind living in the 1600's. Of course I would want to be wealthy enough to have a maid to help me get into my dresses. Being a member of royally would be nice too.

Then I would make sure to have my portrait done by Rubens, so you all can see my lovely face. Maybe I even do something so scandalous as have him paint me in the nude.

1600 posts may seem small to the rest of you, but for someone who can barely write a sentence without 2 to 3 errors in it, posting isn't always fun and easy. You should be thankful I don't video blog my thoughts, as I'm sure you would soon wish I would shut up.

I thought you were talking about 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue and I was expecting a Smash/gbaji/Joph discussion.

Grats on 1600. I'm slowly working up to the American Revolution.

Probably so, although I think I'd have enough sense to remain unmarried and therefore in control of my life (to some extent).

Also, corsets. Just no.

My wife says that wouldn't be any different than it is today. Toilets are so small and I'm so big.

Yeah, I love corsets too. Mmmmmm. It's the only thing that keeps me awake through those Jane Austen adaptations.

If you're in Florence in 1600, it must've been pretty cool. You live through the Renaissance, write poems and write political theories, while society transforms itself from the medieval to the, well, slightly less-medieval.

A bit like the 60s, but with corsets.

Mmmmmm.

Also, grats!

Not much different then when I had no money for anything but my rent and live without electric power.

Days of struggling to get by with wonderful moments where life was a party.

Only thing I missed, was getting on the computer and chatting with friends online.

The plumbing would truly sink though Smiley: tongue

I wouldnt live back then or any other time than now, unless I had a well stocked pharmacy come back with me.
Elne would be burned as a witch, pagan that she is.
Oh and women did have a strongly secured role, especaily if they were wealthy.

Congrats, Elne! Anytime I think about living in another time period I remember that I wouldn't really any better off... I'd either be raped by Spaniards or someone's maid.

I just think about how dirty and smelly people were in the month leading up to bathing day! Then I go take a long, luxurious, wasteful shower.

Fish die so that I can smell good.

It's ok, I eat fish.

At least no car accidents, plane crashes, machine guns, or atomic weaponry.
