My son thwacked me in the face today, so I shoved him into his bedroom and shut the door for timeout.
Not that I'm disparaging your parenting, but I'm curious to know: how effective do you think a time out is for something like that?

Toddlers hate being separated from you more than just about anything in the whole world. I find it to be very effective.

Agreed. Sometimes he howls like a madman and screams until I come get him. Usually by then he's very sorry and gives me a really big hug around the neck.

I should have known something was off when complete silence followed this timeout though.

You know what drives me nuts lately is the negotiating. "But Mommy, how come you get a bigger dessert than me, mine was so so tiny tiny." *pointer and thumb showing me just how SMALL her dessert was*

"Mommy I will stop whining if you give me some licorice?"

wtf..

nothing much going on over here. We just got back from Myrtle Beach where Xavier adopted 3 hermit crabs, a bunch of clams (?) and 2 baby horseshoe crabs. He was utterly pissed when I told him it was time to put them back in the ocean when it was time to go. Tears and wails from a 6 yr old about me killing his buddies is the bestest way to end a family vacation! (he cliams they didnt know how to swim or something stupid... I dont know I started tuning him out after 5 minutes of arguing)

My youngest is testing out the life of a cannibal, preferably on me Smiley: glare It seems anytime he gets angry, even if I'm not in the vicinity, he gets a craving for Mom's shin or shoulder. I'm *this* close to biting him back.

Forest fire in East NC has made air quality CODE RED here, so no playing outside for the kiddies. I'm hoping thats done by this weekend or kiddies will be locked in their bedrooms with meals squuzed through the tiny opening between the carpet and their doors.

oh, and my mom is coming for a visit in 2 weeks..... yay

(no really, things are cool. Sorry you're lonely you should come down for a visit one day! Tare and I will take you out. First round is on her)
