...you know, living with just the kiddo...boyfriend over 200 miles away. Of course, when the two of them have been on the phone with each other for half an hour discussing the eating habits of friendly monsters...well...*sigh*.

Actually, it was super awesome getting the dishes done without her bugging me. Nevermind.

So how's everyone else doing? I mean, here I am, no boyfriend bugging me...no kid bugging me. This is like some sort of gift from god.

I'm not sure, but from what I'm catching as I evesdrop:

*There are at least two monsters, one named Fred, the other George.
*Smash is being forced to play all parts
*George, at least, eats only apples
*Someone has stolen a coffee cup

It should also be noted that I can hear Hannah scolding Smash when he's doing it wrong or not switching characters fast enough.

In 2001, Ray left for his 6 month deployment, right when summer vacation was starting so my parents took Charmaine and I flew the boys out to Texas. I was to have 2 weeks all to myself. I thought it was going to be glorious and fun. But it turned out that I missed everyone so much for the first week that I cried my heart out at night. And I also got scared sleeping by myself in an empty house. I never ever slept by myself anywhere before that. The second week, my house got cleaned spotless and everything was organized. I was beyond bored.

Now I'm wishing I had 2 weeks all to myself again. I know I would handle myself better this time.

Any plans to rent Smash out for phone conversations with toddlers? I sure could use any amount of downtime from my two gremlins. I don't know if I've ever said a phrase more in my life than "STOP WHINING".

Pikko try using the phrase "I should care because?"
If not get yourself a bosun's pipe, learn to play the all hands call and use it to get their silence. Works for me all the time on the ship.

It truly is amazing what will entertain kids. Mia was acting out some sort of dramatic scene last night with the top off an egg timer, a sippy cup handle and two wooden spoons.

Isn't he like 20 by now? *sigh* Southerners. You gotta tell him the wooden ones just don't make the same kind of redneck music that the metal ones do.

:D

Their latest thing is cutting up straws into tiny tiny pieces and making me "eat my vitamins". Or they take out like 5 baby wipes each and "clean the tv". (which I guess has at least some benefit)

Charmaine loves to "fold" clothes. She'll pull everything out of the dressers and fold everything and leave it all out for us to put them back.

cherish these times of quiet. they come far to seldom, but when they are there for to long you will miss the "bugging" and the noise.

3 nights ago, I got a call from my oldest to tell me how Erin, was using an orange washable magic maker to draw lines on her body and saying she was a cat. Actually Erin said she was a Meow, as that her word for cat.

When she was done drawing on her body, she handed Mom the marker and started to go "Meow, Meow, Meow."

That's when I ended the call, as I'm sure there was to be quite a display of claws over getting my grand kitten to take a bath. She is going to be the kid, that cats know they can trust right off like her Aunt.

Erin has always have love to color on her self with magic markers, like it's make up. Thankfully she uses Crayola's washable makers and not the Sharpie my Daughter sometimes forgets to keep out of reach of little hands. Mom now thinks she should get Erin a cat costume to play dress up in.

Just wait until you little one discovers the joy of cloring on everything but the paper you provide.

Keeping all writing materials and refusing to buy crayons or chalk won't help. Kids will draw with anything they can get their hands on and having to clean up the drawing(s) they make with **** isn't fun.
