Wow. It looks like it'll take off and fly any minute, too. Where's George and Jane Jetson?

(Ever notice that the Jetson's cars had perfect little smoke rings from the exhaust?)

Shame the car will only be available in California at first. Still I've sign up for the news letter on their website in hope of someday they make a car that can handle winter conditions. ToUtom sited the car, in another thread, and NBC News story 2 nights ago got me dreaming of seeing teardrop shape cars zipping in and out of traffic.

Maybe you should check out some facts, before you post.

I'm no expert on the physics, but with what I known about engineers, I tend to believe their FAQ were they claim it's design not to have a problem with tractor trailers.

Though I love the thought of just lifting off and flying over 18 wheelers.Smiley: grin

This thing is supposed to be safer than the car safety-standards, and recharges fully in 2 to 4 hours, probably for about $1-$2 dollars on California's electricity prices. Top speed of over 85 mph, and 0-60 in 10 under 10 seconds.

It can take 15 bags of shopping or two 7 foot surf-boards. This thing sounds GREAT!!!

The bad stuff is the only two-seater thing. Which is fine for a childless couple, or some-one's commuter-car. Impossible for families. They plan on a four seater later if they can get the two seater off the ground, but maybe they should have gone for the four seater first, even though it probably would be a harder engineering challenge to get the same energy efficiency. I can't help thinking there's a much bigger market for four seaters.

I'm really sad it's only planned to be sold in California until they get their California market well adn truly established. The price of $26k - $29k American is actually really good for what you are getting in Australian car-market terms.

Although there's obviously a market for 4-seaters, in the US the vast majority of traffic is just one person driving to work and back. These would be perfect for that.

Which is why SUVs, minivans and sedans out sell all other classes, on their own. The market for 4 seaters is likely larger, at least nation wide.

Most people who go for four+ seaters want more room than just that for 10 grocery bags. They want a moo-mobile capable of hauling the entire girl scout troop or little league team. My mom was my girl scout troop's Cookie Mom, and she had to buy a station wagon to fit 50 cases of girl scout cookies XD Our troop leader had a minivan for the same purposes.

For people like me, who rack up most of their miles on the same 30 minute commute every day, it's perfect.

Most of the huge SUVs and vans I see are usually occupied by just one person.

Back at my older old apartment, there was a huge yellow H2 that I only ever saw one lady in getting her (few bags at a time) groceries. I never saw it used for anything else. Yay mileage!

Most of the time you see big vehicles with just a driver in it, those people have families at home that they need to get into the vehicle occasionally. Most of the time a 1 seater would do, but you're not going to buy a second vehicle for that 5% of the time you need 5 seats and room for groceries.

That being said, this looks like a great achievement.
