EQ's having another incentive program. Not a bad deal, actually.

2 free months of play time and access during that time to all the expansions. If you decide to pay once your free time is up, you get to keep all the expansions. Also, you get some free items in game. EQ2 is doing the same thing, but I have an active account there.

So last night I patched up and hopped on my old characters. I had no idea where to go, what zone I was in, I even had trouble moving at first, haha. They have redone A LOT of areas. I didn't recognize Freeport, the Commonlands or Neriak. I was literally lost for a few minutes.

I think tonight the hubby and I are going to make some new characters and run through the tutorial as a refresher. Hell, it's 2 months free, why not?

There is an incentive for players on this though. If someone who had an account comes back, and refers a person who plays now, that person gets a I think a free month of gaming? Bhodi, I'm looking at joo

I installed and hopped on EQ a few months back and no idea what I was doing. I couldn't even remember how to equip things or open my bags. It was hilarious. I logged on my mule only to find she was in some empty room in the bazaar - not the laggy hellhole I'd left her in. Now if only I could transfer her eleventy billion plat over to my EQ2 account.

Yay!

I played long enough to blow some cash in the Bazaar, dress up my old lvl 62 Shadowknight in the freebie gear and head on down to Sebilis. I can still find Sebilis (and my way through it) blindfolded. Worked down to Juggernauts, killed a couple, had a bad pull and got squished, used my summon/rez Vet AA and quit.

It was amusing for an hour but I don't see myself staying with it. I think part of what killed me was being used to the nearly instant regeneration between battles of LoTRO and the ability to take on multiple equal+ con mobs at once.

"Three blue con Sebilite Juggernauts? Piece of cake!"

I'll most likely explore a little bit more and goof off on some new characters with my husband for a little bit, but I don't see me sticking around.

I found it very amusing that my old guild is still quite active and raiding on my server, and the guild leader is still there, leading it.

My druid dinged 60 in Sebilis. Eight times.

To hell with EQ2! If only for the fact that leveling in RoK with an Assassin was absolute ***.

Also have WoW raiding (working on Sunwell) and AoC on the side. If you want my EQII account though, or anyone in Bane does for the matter send me a PM.

I had only left EQ 2 or 3 months ago, but was still able to take advantage of this.

I logged in, got the free stuff.

Though the Guild and raiding alliance I helped build are still going strong, I only recognized two of nearly two dozen names that were currently logged on, on the guild roster.

That was last Monday. I had intended to log in again Tuesday night for weekly raid, but didn't feel like it. Smiley: tongue

I can't do this again. I just can't.

And I hated the revamped zones. Frankly the only reason I've gone back so many times is the nostalgia factor, painfully dorky as that is, and when I stepped into the new Freeport it was as if Sony had raped my memories.

Last night Bane got Nexona down, a dragon in VP that is the hardest in the end game raid to get down. Only 4 other guilds on our server have gotten her down, and one I dont count because they have a Dev in their guild who gave them inside info on how to beat her. Yay!

That's what I thought about Commonlands. I really wanted to run around the old newbie areas and see them the way I remembered. It was a little disturbing to see them so different.

Tell you what was fun, though, was when I played on one of the progression servers and only the original EQ was available. I was grouping in Befallen, Najena, Upper Guk; it was like I'd died and gone to 1999. We would all stand around at the end of the day in the tunnel and shout "WTS 2 Bags o' Stuff at T2". My bard had full lambent.

Quit it, just quit it. I'm not coming back again, no matter what you do. I've been hurt too many times. We can't undo what's been done. It was great, baby, but we've both changed.

Or you could pay a measly $50 for a new game filled with nice graphics and shiny things.

AoC does nothing for me. And I'm only doing this because it was already installed on my machine and it's free for 2 months. My paid game of choice right now is EQ2.

Good job! I was such a horrible Assassin in raids :( you are better off without me! After the breakup I nerded out, broke out a calculator and couple resources figured out stats conversions so I knew how to gear in wow, then I started reading up on bosses, then I got the raid ethic where I had a months worth of consumables sitting on an alt bank. Now I am a a core healer in number one alliance guild on the server, scary what not getting laid will do.

Jonwin keep my account and just transfer my enchanter to server my Druid is on. If I did decide to log ingame, I have to read up some first. he's level Primrosex up a bit and gotten her new toys and armor. Plus lately I had no idea what zone he was playing in, while looking over his shoulder.

I need to log into LOTR:O again soon, but still find myself spending too much time reading my email, friends Lj posts and the NY Times. blogs. Also need a way to Twitter, while ingame.

Darn with all the folks I been befriending at the conventions I may find myself wanting to do podcasts soon.

Google should have more net jargon listed in their Dictionary. Darn it does not even recognized Google as a word.

I'm tempted to pop back on to EQ just to see what it is like. I haven't played since right around the time when planes of power came out. I'm sure I would be totally lost now. I think I was on the Karana server, but I'm not even sure of that.

Have they changed up the Qeynos and Erudin areas too? Those were the newbie areas that I always liked the most.

Well hello, blast from the past.

Didn't make it to Qeynos or Erudin, it was late when the game finally finished patching so I only played for a little while.
