Here's the trump card though. San Diego (ok, far southern California) is one of the few places in the world where you can wake up in a snow covered cabin, ski for a bit, then head out to the beach for some noon surfing/bodyboarding, then head out to the desert for an afternoon of buggyriding, then stop in the mountains and camp out.
I do have to admit, that is one of the best aspects of living in San Diego. I adored doing that when I was younger
and gas prices weren't an issue.
Since I was born and raised in San Diego and most of my hugely extended family is either in San Diego or at least in Southern California, I can't see myself living anywhere else. I'm in San Diego, more because my family is here than any other reason. I want my children to grow up with the feeling of security and abundance that I experienced.
But Sea World, the Zoo, Wild Animal Park, Balboa Park, the beaches,
Legoland are all nearby. All the theme parks of Los Angeles are about 2 hours away. I do like going to Tijuana. The weather, for the most part, is perfect for my tropical DNA.
Yeah, housing is expensive and the cost of living is high, but my and my husband's salaries are able to match it.
San Diego has its problems and issues, like any other city or region, but I'll take those with the positive aspects that I get living here.
So, why do I just want to get in my car and drive away from everything today?
