Lat me preface this by saying I can't believe how whiny this has all gotten. The rules were clear, and now everyone's acting like the DNC wants to disenfranchise two important states, and not at all holding them accountable for the actions that led them to this point. IMHO, suck it up, whiners. No votes counted, no delegates seated. That said, what do you feel would be a fair resolution?

Billary fan Lanny Davis feels that Clinton should be awarded delegates proportional to the ones that voted for her, albeit sans competition. Florida's Senate Minority Leader Steve Geller has filed a lawsuit against the DNC demanding that the delegates be seated, again to vote according to election results. The Rules Committee meets on the 31st, and either candidate (Hillary) can appeal if things don't go their way to the Credential Committee in August, and drag this out all the way to the Convention.

They'll split them proportionally to current delegate count.

I'm fine with a 50/50 split just to get hillary to stop ******** that Obama doesn't have an actual majority. I'll even go with a revote at this time

I say they can be seated however anyone wants after Hillary drops out.

Then the original purpose of the sanctions against them will have been served: They will have lost their position in choosing the nominee.

IMHO neither state should have their votes count.

on the other hand if the DNC wants to waist more money and continue to make both candidates look like crap, then by all means force them to run off AGAIN in both states.

Waste. Neither of those has any chance of happening. The latter option would require Jesus to show up and offer to endorse the winner of the new election.

My guess is for a 50/50 split or else 50/50 in FL and the 69/59 compromise in MI.

I can't imagine them wanting to split it in a way which draws out the primary season by moving the goalposts much further than where the candidates are at.

Everything I've heard indicates that the committee is fairly pissed about FL & MI holding elections against the rules so the chances of them legitimizing the FL results by letting them stand is about nil. MI isn't even an option due to the ballot situation.

I was especially ticked to read the article in Politico where Obama is blamed for blocking re-votes by not being vocal enough about endorsing them. WTF?

I think that if the DNC doesn't award the Hellbeast each and every delegate from Michigan and Florida-- since she won them fair and square --she should bolt the Dem party and run as an independent. This is my most fervent hope and prayer.

The Associated Press wrote:
WASHINGTON (AP) — A Democratic Party rules committee has the authority to restore delegates from Michigan and Florida but not fully seat the two states at the convention as Hillary Rodham Clinton wants, according to a party analysis.

Party rules require that the two states lose at least half of their convention delegates for holding elections too early, Democratic National Committee lawyers wrote in a 38-page memo.

The memo was sent late Tuesday to the 30 members of the party's Rules and Bylaws Committee, which plans to meet Saturday to consider the fate of convention delegates from the two states. The party is considering plans to restore at least some of the delegates to make sure the two important general election battlegrounds will be included at the nominating convention in August.

Hooo, boy. I look forward to reading the sternly worded statement from Hillary this morning.

Aren't the Republicans seating 50%? It seems harsh enough - but my recollection is that Clinton would pick up lots of pledged delegates: maybe trim Obama's lead in pledged from 160 to 80 or less (mostly in Florida - I assume Michigan's none of the above (or whatever it was) will be Obama's). So it would become really tight.

Anyone have the numbers?

Obama is leading by 198 delegates. FL was worth 185 pledged delegates (210 with supers). Clinton won it 50/33 (plus Edwards' 15% or so).

So FL would have given Clinton 93 and Obama 61. 198+61-93 = 166 point lead or a 32 delegate loss. That's not counting superdelegates or Edwards' pledged delegates chosing a new candidate.

As far as the end game, Obama is 46 delegates away from 2025. He'd be 90 delegates away if the above was instated. Clinton would go from delegates 244 left to gain to 261 left. That's my cocktail napkin math saying that the goalpost moves from 2025 to 2130 (you need half of FL's total 210).

My mistake -- it should be 256 left for HRC if FL is counted into the total. So it pushes the goalposts 12 more delegates for her and 44 for Obama. But, yeah, it delays the end a little but doesn't really change the score.

Also, those are for a full slate of FL delegates. You can do your own math for a 50% penalty by the DNC.

so who ever it was that stated that one of the reasons, if not the only reason, the ***** is still in the race is to continue to raise funds to pay off her debt. this would help do so and nothing more.
