The U.S. acknowledges the design hinders blind people but it argued that blind people have adapted. Some relied on store clerks to help them

Yeah, what could possibly go wrong there?

I'd just carry $1s.

I'm honestly surprised that with all the redesigns of bills in recent years that they haven't already done something like in the UK where bills of different amounts are different sizes. I guess they'd have to invest in machines that cut them the varying sizes, but still...

Vending machine lobby will never, ever, let this happen barring a court order.

Ones could remain the same size they are now. Other than machines that are created to make change, it wouldn't really be that much of an issue, would it? I don't recall seeing a soda or snack machine that takes fives or tens anyway? Maybe they do in other places. I admit to not being much of a vending machine user.

The blind guy that I know has the denominations folded different ways in his wallet. I think he carries change around as well so he can always pay the exact amount and not worry about being short-changed by a shifty clerk.

Edit: Oh, and Nephy, you have plenty to add. You've got 10K to get to.

Isn't this like the 3rd or 4th time some court has found US currency to be discriminatory? Nothing ever really happens though.

True story-- when I was in 4th grade we had a blind man come visit our classroom and identify denominations by feel. Mind you, he wasn't legally blind, he was blind blind. As in no eyes. I don't know how he did it and it wasn't passed off as a magic trick, but part of a science demonstration where it was an application of a person's other four senses.

I still don't know how he was able to do it. He could pick out $1s, $5s, $10s, and $20s, no problem.

I could have sworn we discussed this back in '06 and, at the time, I found an even earlier case deciding the same thing.

Joph, sweets, it says that in the article linked above. This is an appeals court ruling. Now they can go to the Supreme Court, in which case, there will likely be another article. Try to keep up.

:D

You know that part at the top that spins around? I think that's my favorite part. You know, if I had a favorite helicopter part. I guess the window on the front there is pretty neat too. All roundy.

I wish I had a cookie.

Helicopters are very mysterious things. Nobody is quite certain how they do what they do. Oh sure, people like to talk about lift, drag, and velocity/thrust vectors, but the truth is faeries do all the work during daylight hours and gremlins move helos around at night. Basically, it's occultic shift work.

Bet you didn't know that.

I thought they were full of Bumble Bees who "aerodynamically cannot fly!!!1!" to provide lift.

How refreshing to see that you people still believe in Helicopters.

They're a communist myth developed by Comrade Sikorsky to give the bread queues something to dream about during the great Moscow weevil shortage of '53.

A large weevil would change hands for thousands of potatoes, while even a small weevil would cost a family 2 weeks earnings (Hence the common phrase "The lesser of two weevils")

Bumblebees are some of the misinformation and plain old fashioned falsehoods that the airline industry/fixed wing community has placed out there to conteract the bad press they are getting for packing you in like sardines when you fly these days. Well, that and those sketchy Pegasus things they strap onto the wings to get them to fly. Uh-huh. And I'll bet you thought they used Pratt & Whittneys, didn't you? Nope. I'm telling you, it's basically magic when it comes to aerodynamic forces.

And Nexa? I've seen some guys' flying techniques that'd make you swear they were blind. Flippin' scary.
