Wow. People really should not let some video game's BMI rating affect their self-esteem so much. Go see your doctor for that kind of info.

I didn't know video games required a physical.

If your going to put in your height/weight into a machine that is designed for people 21+(according to the last article) you should be ready to get what you get, this 10-year-old really had no need to check her BMI.

I remember seeing this on tv, the girls mother was outraged - but any hurt the young girl suffered was down to the fact that her mother allowed her on the machine, having not read the small print .

I had a go on my neighbours, it screamed, it whined, it shouted 'will you get OFF me you giant swampdonkey' (well, not QUITE in those words ' but it didn't upset me because I'm old enough , big enough (well, obviously) and confident enough not to let a machine upset me .

Honestly, its like people that get beat up over internet insults - its someone you're never going to care about saying something mean hiding behind something else. In the case of the wiifit, it's not even that intelligent.

I'm sure, if my next doors Wii knew me better it would say ' Hey, you;ve got a big ***** chunky thighs, and you good do with a haircut, but you have GREAT tits and I LOVE the piercings!' And hey, if I don't like what it says, I can always take a hammer to it ^^

Yes, next lets not have kids step on scales and have our doctors lie to them when they have an overweight problem.

I'm tired of this sensitive, "oh please don't hurt my feelings" crap. If people were more blunt and honest about things, everyone would of been use to it by now and no one would feel hurt by it.

I love how everyone assumes the child is, in fact, obese. I don't blame the makers of the game (hell, if you're going to ***** because something hurts the kid's feelings you may as well wrap them in bubble wrap and lock them in the house), because your BMI is something you need to know, although I think adding a disclaimer that says 'results are not calibrated for all ages and do not take the place of a medical evaluation' etc would be helpful for both parties.

What I really don't get is the fact that her parents spent more time convincing her she's not "fat" and blaming the game instead of taking the obvious opportunity to teach her about positive body image regardless of weight, and that this is one of many messages she'll receive from the media that the she needs to learn to filter.
