Whenever a politician opens their mouth and speaks the three most dangerous letters in the world, GTA, gamers everywhere cringe.

But Barack Obama might just 'get it'.

No attack. No unrealistic 'save the children from the evil games' political soundbite. Just a reasonably question on whether or not our youth are getting the right exposure to literature, education, and athletics, or have we made games a surrogate babysitter/parent.

In case you're wondering what Hillary thinks...
"When I am president, I will work to protect children from inappropriate video game content," Clinton affirmed.

If you want to add your voice to the debate, and let the candidates know where you stand (all of them including John McCain, Ron Paul, and Ralph Nader), you can do it at the Video Game Voter's Network. http://www.videogamevoters.org/takeaction/...he08candidates/

Would a politicians stance on gaming influence your voting decision?

It probably would mine, but only to the extent that it might indicate the person is willing to use common sense versus simply giving in to popular hype.

Not really. It's nice to hear someone admit that XBox 360 games won't kill your children but most of the "I'll protect you!" bit is pandering anyway.

I don't play 'offensive' games anyway so there is a bit of "Don't affect me none" at work there. I'll admit that there's a 1st Amendment component to it but there's only so many hours in the day for me to worry about more pressing matters. Let the kids actually cast a vote if they care that much about it.

"I'll work to protect the children" is just a lame cop-out, no substance, vague promise.to answer a question. I admire Obama for taking a more solid stance.
