Anyone going to try out the new game? And don't move this thread, it's only addressed to the Asylumites, not the Ooters or the other games forum.

On the fence about pre-ordering, anyone in beta?

I'm not preordering, but will probably buy it in a couple of weeks just to see what it's like. I haven't been waiting for AoC like I have been waiting for WAR.

I have had it on pre-order for about 4 months.

Not sure when its being released in NZ, due to spotty oik in game emporium being an ignoramus. Tho it could be any time in the next couple of weeks.

A few guildies from LoTRO are in beta and sound quite excited about it. I am totally reserving judgement until I've played it. I doubt I will leave LoTRO for it tho.

I think realistic bewb action will be the deciding factor.

I only saw their preview trailers for it and it looked god awful. The "gore" was laughable. It was like LoTRO meets Mortal Combat with huge, over the top blood gouts, including "lens spray" Smiley: rolleyes

This.

The emphisis on the so called gore and sex is what turns me off the most to AoC.

As for WAR I'm not sure where or what you have been hearing but I have been keeping up on the development over the last year pretty closely and it seems to me they are serious about not releasing it 'til it's done and it's ironed as they can get it. That said there has been at least one big instance of a known AoC fanboi trying to trash WAR on a bunch of game websites, so maybe that is what you have heard?

Same. Not interested. Still loving Norrath in EQ2. Btw, you decided not to check it out? You had mentioned a week ago and then nothing. Wuss

$40 for an old game is not a good deal imo.

The gore looks retarded, hoping you can turn it off.

I doubt I'll bother until it comes out on X-Box. Then I'll likely rent it.

I've lost any hope in MMOs. Also, it's tough to justify playing on my small *** computer screen when I have a 50 inch HD tv to play on downstairs.

I've pre-ordered it and gonna give it a try. An ex-guildie from wow gave me his AoC beta key yeserday, I'm downloading it now and it should be all done later tonight. I agree the gore looks a bit silly, but I'm pretty sure I read somehwere you can toggle it off. The fighting looks fun though, the classes varied, and it's pvp-focused which I prefer.

I'll give more info once I've tried it, if you want.

Doesn't do anything for me. Like DSD, I'm having fun with EQ2 now. Also, isn't AoC supposed to lean toward PvP?

I am keeping my fingers crossed that it gives the PVP crowd everything they want.

No, I won't be trying it.

WAR is heavy PvP, but AoC is somewhat mixed. PvP is the ultimate demise of all MMO's.

A few FTFY to should how I feel about it.

AoC has got rank aweful reviews for the last 6-12 months, i hope for their sake they adressed the numerous issues since then.

It would have been much less of aa deal when it first came out. At least now with $40 you're given everything since the game began

I'm hoping that, with any luck, AoC will remove a few of the bigger idiots I know from WoW. I'm sure the gore and sex will help that removal.

I'm more interested in Warhammer Online and WoW's expansion (pre-ordered both). Did my first raid in Kara last weekend and it was a blast. So I'm still enjoying WoW and will only stray to WO (like I am currently with GTA4).

I would expect AoC to have to have a lot of gore.

I'll be with LoTRO for a bit, but am already feeling the desire to log into EQ again...and I'd still like to go back and play Vanguard...and then Spore for fall..'sigh' too many games.

I, originally, thought I'd try Warhammer, but the PvP scares me off.

I hear that Pirates of the Burning Sea already shut down 9 of their twelve servers.
