Turned in my senior thesis paper today. Just two final exams next week, and I'll be done with school. Forever.

Until I go back to get my Masters in Basket Weaving and become a teacher. :P

The real world sucks, Go back to school, Dr. Demea has a nice ring to it.

Congratulations, Demea!

Was it hard to get back into the swing of things after the shootings, or did people just want to dive back into school and forget about it?

You are at the IL school that had the crazy guy shooting people... right?

I don't live on campus, and I've only been attending NIU for three semesters now, so I may not be as connected to the community as most. However, from what I can tell, most people just wanted to get back to business and get on with our lives. Special arrangements were made for those who were in that classroom (although honestly, I'm not sure what they entailed), and the rest of us got right back on schedule.

I was done with school over ten years ago. And I bet I make more now than you will teaching out there in bumblesfuCk.

Then again, my rent for a one-room apartment is probably mortgage payment for most people's 4-bedroom houses.

Ok, so maybe I'm prone to a bit of hyperbole. But when I heard some waitress down on the Jersey shore claim that she just found a nice two-bedroom place for $300, my eyes popped out and rolled across the floor.

Right. But it's in Jersey.

Minimum for a 2 bedroom here in Chi-town would be about $1800/mo, and the only place you'd be able to find it that cheap is in the heart of the ghetto.

Edit: Also, WTF?

I'm not going in to teaching, and I'll bet that I make more than you do right now once you subtract all the cash you spend on greenery. :P

I paid $20 for a quarter about two months ago and just finished burning out the last of the resin!

And, hey, if basket-weaving is that profitable these days I might just have to switch careers.

My bachelors degree is in Economics, and there really isn't all that much money in it. More than all of my friends made right out of school, but still not enough to buy my own island. :(

That's funny. You would think that, by definition, there would be.

Congrats and welcome to the rest of your life. Which largely involves doing the same thing everyday of the week with the 2 weeks of vacation in which you pretend your life is more exciting than it is. Just like everyone else.

If nothing else, college taught me to think objectively first, and subjectively second. Economics is a great discipline for simplifying and modeling problems, finding the solution(s), and then determining the best course of action.

I'm saving it for AllaVegas '09.
