Buwahahahahaha! How the mighty have fallen when the opposition's Satan is deeming to give your candidate advice on how to right a listing campaign. The very fact Rove is even doing this plays into the perception that Obama has an elitist problem.

Nobody loves a snob. To look down one's nose at people sets their teeth on edge even if the person doing it has good intentions. And while Barry may not be the snob he is being slowly portrayed by his opponents as, the rumor becomes fact if repeated often enough.

I absolutely *love* the political season. Is there any better plotlines, drama, and camp than the twisting the political machine injects into the race for our country's presidency? I think not.

So I take it you don't think any of his six points had validity? Mmmm-nnn. Not very politically astute of you, Mr. Word. Rove had some solid advice for Barry.

No, the legitimacy of his points are irrelevant, what is relevant is the fact that these points were made to help beat that proverbial drum you made reference to about a week ago; not to help Obama.

That said, we move on to the next part of what I was getting at. Rove is a colossal douche bag.

How blinkered does one's perception have to be to think that?

Look at the people he's facing: Hillary, went to Yale, was on the board of Wal-Mart, first lady, part of one of the most important political dynasties of the US. McCain, his family were the aristocracy of the military, and since leaving the Navy he's been a Senator. Really working-class. Really middle-America.

And that's without going into Bush Jnr, surely one of the most elitist individual on the planet. Born with a silver spoon in his mouth and a golden bib around his neck.

I know it's all about perception, but how blind can people be? The irony in this primary is too much: Clinton campaigning on a message of "Change", the political aristocracy calling the son of a black Kenyan and a single mum "elitist". It's barely credible some people are falling for it.

I think Obama's only problem is that he over-estimates ordinay people's intelligence, or under-estimates their stupidity.

And if that sounds elitist, you can go fUck yourself with a XVIIth Century Versaille chandelier.

Do you really like the idea of our country's leadership being decided by a soap opera?

You're becoming almost gbajiesque in what you perceive in pretty much meaningless crap.

Elitist: Wanting to surround oneself only with other elites, i.e. the cream of the crop. Unfortunately, even though the cream always rises to the top, cream tends to be around 50% fat.

I don't think Obama has been in politics long enough to be an elitest. He's a smart man and he'll surround himself with a smart cabinet, but is that such a bad thing? Really? People should be appointed to positions or elected because of their merits, education, and talent, not because they're the best guy to have a beer with.

Personally, I'd like the country to be run by INTELLIGENT people. I've had enough of the idiocracy of the last eight years. If someone isn't smarter than me then why the hell am I electing them to office in the first place?

Move to the UK. Say what you want about that system of governance, they rarely end up with abject morons for Prime Minister.

Sure, and whiney pussies like Chamberlain and Blair. Can't be helped, though, when your pool of potential candidates is limited to British MPs.

Very true. And even Blair, pussified as he might've been, was still a million times better than the spineless bastards the Tories were proposing: Hague-the-xenophobe (currently shadow foreign minister, obviously), Ian Duncan-Smith the Invisible, and Michael "something of the night" Howard.

Come to think of it, the reason our politicians have sucked less recently might've been simply that they weren't Tories.

Does nobody have anything to say about the six points of advice Rove gave Obama? Wow, if your entire response is either that Rove couldn't possibly have some keen insights into this campaign or on the other hand have no reaction at all, I think the Republicans may have a greater opportunity in November than what I had anticipated. If your idea is everything is fine, "Stay the course, Barry, ignore those ankle biting pundits!" then the juggernaught that is the Obama campaign machine might very well have too much mass and inertia to nimbly react to unforeseen obstacles.

Woot for us Republicans! How does another eight years of a conservative president taste? Because if you can't adjust your strategy on the fly, your opponents both inside the party and out will make you pay dearly for it.

They were banal and obvious. All were obvious "have you stopped beating your wife yet" jokes couched as political commentary only the most naive would take seriously.

He should have added points 7 and 8:

7: Build a National Defense record. You claim you were the only one who made the right decision in being against the war, but you've never been to war. During the next few months, try to start bar fights, slap Michelle around, whatever it takes to prove to voters that you can handle your ****. Senator McCain is widely exhaulted gookslayer, your sweet jump shot just can't compete with that.

8: Don't point out weaknesses in McCain's platform or ideas. Voters aren't interested in issues, they're interested in hate and fear, and you can't compete there. Why try? Instead, speak in glowing terms of McCain's service to this country, his fine judgment, his toughness against terrorists, and how he's a freethinking maverick with no ties to special interests. If you admit you aren't half the man he is, voters will respond. They love a victim, see, and they'll think it's unfair that McCain is so grossly more qualified for the job. This is how you win elections, Barry....

/squints his eyes and looks back and forth between Smash and Karl

Are you certain you two weren't separated at birth? Those two additional points were pure brilliance. Maybe James Carvill was a half or step-brother to you two?

:D
